Am having a clear out. Do 'posh' dresses sell well on eBay and when is a good time to sell them?

I've a few dresses I've wore to 'black tie' parties ( mainly monsoon . I'm not likely to be going to any more and I need the money.

Any tips? I usually just sell DVDs/books.

Have a really good descriptive title including brand, size, colour, style etc. and good clear photos - if there are any flaws on the clothes take close ups and try to show them (all photos are free in the clothes category)

Write a clear factual description, mention any tiny flaws etc. Include measurements (saves having to measure when you get questions).

Make sure you end the auction at a 'good' time - I like Sunday evenings.

Weigh the dress and add on a little for the packaging - get an accurate postage cost using the Royal Mail website. Think about whether you want to send UK only or are willing to send abroad.

Start at a realistic price, that is the minimum you want to sell at. (Check out completed listings to see what similar dresses sell for). Alternatively start at 99p, but then you run the risk of the final price being less than you thought you might get.

I find that Monsoon always sells quite well, but as we're coming up to wedding season I think that they should do quite well. As WhenDoI says, thorough description is important.
I tend to try and end my stuff on a Sunday evening too.

Will have root out , they're all packed away at the moment as I'm not using them and don't think they fit anyway

The best time would be in late May/early June, just in time for Summer weddings & races

Very good quality pictures (& nicely presented ones) are essential.

Ok, I'll hang on 6 weeks or so.

My top tip is to have item on a nice wooden hanger helps, rather than a manky old wire one (if you're photographing item hanging up).

Also, deffo say if item is coming from a smoke-free house, some buyers only buy if this is confirmed.

Give as much info and size detail in the listing title as people look at this first off, before a closer look at the prodcut, (especially size) e.g. Monsoon full length blue party dress, size 12, beading, flapper style

Good luck, hope you make lots of money!
