Any advantage in selling on Amazon instead of eBay (for out of print DVDs)?

DB has asked me to sell some of his (specialist, out of print) DVDs. I usually sell on eBay and have lots of feedback but there are none of these DVDs on eBay. However, they do appear on Amazon at huge prices (like $90) but I don't know if the seller is just putting them on at an inflated price in the hope that someone buys them.

Is it hard to get set up to sell on Amazon and is there any point in doing so when I am already set up on eBay?

Thanks for any help.

My friend sells Lego on Amazon and gets a much better price than on ebay. I don't think it's difficult, they just insist on postage tracking info being entered before they will transfer any money over. So you need to price in tracked/recorded delivery.

She has found she can (and does) basically price things upto 100% more than they are in the shops and if they are in short supply they will sell or even just because people assume it's on Amazon so it must be a bargain!

I have sold used DVDs, books and video games on Amazon. It is easy to set up. You don't have to faff around with photos and writing descriptions - you only have room for one sentence on condition. You choose the price and you don't pay to list. If it doesn't sell you can drop the price or put it on eBay later.

I have sold a number of things at a higher price than I would have got on eBay at that point. The price for "rarer" items can fluctuate a lot on both eBay and Amazon depending on demand. On Amazon you can just leave it until it sells.

On the other hand it is free listing this Easter weekend (Fri - Mon) on eBay, so you can start at a high starting price there for no fee and see how it goes!

Thanks, that's very helpful.

If using Amazon, do you still receive payments via paypal?

No - the payments appear in your bank account. You have to link that. It takes a couple of weeks after the sale to get the money through. The fee structure is very confusing to start with on Amazon. I often end up trying to work out what I have to sell something for on eBay and Amazon to get the same profit, before deciding where to list things.
