My Bumbo - disappointing

listing

Can anyone suggest maybe why the listing for my Bumbo fetched almost £20 less than the high sellers? Link above. Its pristine condition, as new. Did this not come across? Did I set a duff end time? Any ideas welcome, as I'm a little bummed, and wondering for future listings if I did something wrong..... Thanks!!!

That sounds like a pretty good price to me. But if it's less than it should have been, my first thoughts are

  1. Did the listing end at an odd time - when there are less people likely to be on line?

  2. was the postage too high?

  3. Because it was pink it might have attracted less people, perhaps more people would be after a gender neutral colour.

I think it's a decent price too.. I just paid 9.50 for one! (used). Maybe the postage costs put people off?

BigusBumus · 01/04/2012 07:36

The advert above your listing shows a brand new one from kiddicare costing £27, only a tenner more. I think you got a great price for it.

deliakate · 01/04/2012 07:55

Thanks guys. Saw a pink one going for £31, so was hoping for more like that, since DD used it for about 10 mins in total.

I've worked out I'm going to loose money on postage :( Should have checked before I guess, but as I don't have a printer - its going to cost £9.59 to post with a courier bringing the labels with him. I wonder how all those guys are posting them for £6......

send it Collect Plus? That would be cheaper I think unless it is really heavy?

deliakate · 01/04/2012 14:39

Great suggestion... seems like you need a printer to do CollectPlus too, unfort :(

if you look at completed listings

i would say you got a really good price to be honest!

fergoose · 01/04/2012 14:52

go to a friend's house to print the collect plus label then? Worth it to save a few quid isn't it?

stressheaderic · 03/04/2012 19:48

I remember watching them on eBay about 18 months ago to get one for DD, they were all going for around the £15 mark with £6 postage.
I paid £15 in the end, for an aqua coloured one with tray.

The poster who mentioned the pink one attracting a narrower field may have been right, or perhaps its just the luck of the eBay draw, and sometimes someone gets a bargain.

Flubba · 03/04/2012 19:58

I agree that pink might have put some off.
Sunday evening is always better than Saturday evening.

How many days was it on for? Best is to put it on on Thursday night for 10 days to cover two weekends.

Other than that, it's a fine listing, good pic, good description etc. Luck of the draw I suppose, but IMO I think it's a good price.

wheresthepopcorn · 05/04/2012 18:55

I definitely think it's the pink. I know that when I was looking for one they sell for less. Why not have a collection option too? I was able to find a pristine Bumbo on gumtree for £15 including feeding tray and could collect which worked out to be better value than the ones I saw on ebay

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/04/2012 14:10

Mine's on atm - I'd be over the moon if I get that price for it. I've listed in for collection only so we'll have to see!

Pascha · 06/04/2012 14:14

I bought mine from ebay for £12 + postage. (it was useless BTW and we sold it on a local facebook selling page for £19 so quids in there).

I would have not bid if it looked like being any more than £17 or £18.

knackeredmother · 09/04/2012 15:07

Well I'm selling one for 50p and nit getting any bids! May be as ive been totally honest about it being a bit faded. I think you did well op.

babloogirl · 09/04/2012 15:10

Just bought one for less than £5.00

So I think you did well

Catsdontcare · 09/04/2012 15:14

Sunday evenings at around 8pm are the best timeto end listings.

Think it was a fair price tbh.

fatballerina · 09/04/2012 15:50

My blue one went for 5eur-I'm an Irish seller and the postage I had to charge was higher than sellers in the UK so it puts a lot of buyers off..there isn't much traffic on the Irish site so I rely on UK bidders but certain items are just too bulky/heavy for me to be competitive..I think £16 is a great price to be honest-I would have been delighted with that!

ANTagony · 09/04/2012 15:54

If I've got stuff in really good condition I usually sell as a buy it now with best offer starting at just over the upper end end price for auctions. I think people can be impatient and pay more to know they have won the item.
