and i want to refund some back to the buyer. however.

the post office has given me three proof of posting receipts with no bloody prices of the postage on, and as i posted three parcels together, i have no way of working out which was the one i overcharged on. is there any way of finding out from the proof of posting labels? items werent that expensive, but i am worried about charging too much and people complaining. is there anything i can do?

Ask the buyers to let you know the postage cost on the printed label when they receive the item?? Don't say why, just checking your records. you can then hopefully establish which one was overcharged... does that work?

yes that would work, i just want to refund them before they complain - one item i chrged P&P for was 2.00, one 2.50. The actual cost was 58p, so obviously i charged way too much!!! The post office seem to be very random around our way - one week that same item could be at least 1.70. I think it depends on how much effort they put into squishing it through that little letterbox guide (which i cant find on the internet). am so worried about selling on ebay, im still quite new and its a minefield!

does it have the weight of the parcels printed on it at all?

shelley72 · 26/03/2012 21:07

No it doesn't, and the receipt doesn't seem to correspond with any of the proof of postingsmay just refund both to be on safe side..

Not much help for your current issue, but for future use I bought one of these

I have been selling for nine years and I still get in a panic after sending a load of sold stuff off!

I sent 12 items on Saturday, three days later than I had planned to because my son was in hospital for two days.

I take my bag of parcels and some cash to the post office and leave it with the postmistress. She sorts it all out when she has no queue then I go back and collect my change and proof of postage. It's a great service but it does mean that I have absolutely no idea how much each parcel actually cost to post so I often expect an email asking for the difference to be refunded (which I have been known to do if there is more than £2 difference Blush ).

What I do is, go to the postage estimator page by clicking on the link when I'm setting up, weigh my whatever on my kitchen scales, put in the weight but add on an extra 70g, say, for wrapping, then I see what the postage estimator says and therefore know what the postage should be. Everything I've ever sent has been a 'packet', mind.
