OK, so you've caught me out, I have some glassware to mail. :) I was going to use Royal Mail standard parcels but have just found that they don't cover breakages of glass. I guess I may as well use MyHermes, who also don't cover glass breakages but who are cheaper than RM and have the advantage of collecting from home. Before I do that can anyone suggest an alternative which does offer compensation for glass breakages? The items are only worth between £5 and £40 but that's still not something I want to have to lose.

The other thing is can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive source of cardboard mailing boxes (small-ish, about 9 x 6 x 6 inches) and a source of bubble wrap please? TIA.

I would send them special delivery if I were you - then you will be covered won't you?

Thanks Fergoose, that sure helps. I couldn't see whether Special Delivery covered glass or china anywhere on the website.

only special delivery covers ceramics glass however it is expensive and they still wont pay if they think packaging inadequate the secret is double boxing

There are no standard delivery companies, including Royal Mail, who will insure glass or ceramics. Royal Mail Special Delivery does cover high value items but not breakable ones.
