More postage than I paid?

I brought a pair of trousers the other day and paid about £2.50 for postage. Have just had a message saying that the post office quoted a higher postage than I paid so could I please transfer the additional £1.20.

I told them no but now I'm not sure if I was right to do so.

They should have checked the price before they ebayed them.

Bibbo · 13/03/2012 10:04

don't pay it! seriously, that is the price they advertised and they have to sell it to you at that price.

V stupid amateurish seller! and really taking the piss imo

SomebodySaveMe · 13/03/2012 10:06

That's what I thought! I wouldn't expect the difference back had the postage been less than I paid!

She says she'll post them now as its her mistake.

I occasionally underestimate postage - there's no way I'd charge it to the buyer. Glad she's realised the error of her ways ;-).

I underestimate all the time. I have got better armed with the kitchen scales and a price list :) but would never ask the buyer if you make a mistake its your (the seller) 's fault. I always refund if I get it wrong the other way though.

fergoose · 13/03/2012 10:24

they aren't allowed to ask for extra postage so tough luck on the seller

We have just posted an item abroad, cost more than the quote. Do not expect buyer to pay.
