What can I do about this?

I bought my DS a tv/DVD combi for his birthday last October.

I bought it in September but he didn't open it till October.

so far everything has been fine, but last Saturday the DVD kept saying "No Disc" when there was a DVD in the player. We tried different DVD's etc but it just kept saying no disc.

I contacted the Seller last Saturday night to see if he could help but he hasn'tt answered me.

It was a seller refurbished item.

What rights do I have? what can I do about it? It wasn't really cheap it was £90 so somewhere inbetween.

I'm not sure what to do about it at all? Is there anybody out there that can help and advise?

TIA

Actually I've checked the listing and it says its grade B+ which they say means either ex display or a customer returned so not seller refurbished at all

did the seller offer a warranty - if so could you phone them or if not go to consumer direct

if not you are too late to complain to eBay as you only have 45 days to raise a claim

Is it not automatically covered under a 12 month warranty because its an electrical item?

I did just originally ask the seller for trouble shooting advice.
I actually though eBay had brought out a new policy to cover electrical items for 12months I just don't know how to find out about it.

I have seen a warranty you can buy with an item but I don't know about an automatic one

Consumer Direct then - unless you phone the seller first. I guess the sellers listings have his address and contact number on them?

Hmmm well I am a seller and I had a customer complain about an item I sold them 3 months later. When I asked on the ebay forum they said it was my responsibility to sort out the problem, so I sent a new item to my customer. So based on that, I would say the seller needs to sort it out.

I have bought graded items before, i got a hoover last week and that came with a 1 month warranty. I don't know if the seller has to offer that warranty though

fergoose · 09/03/2012 10:07

*12 month warranty is what I should have written!

Ok great.

I've emailed him again asking for help. I don't really want another item I just wanted him to help me rectify it if he knew a way but so far he's ignoring me.
If he doesn't answer me in the next couple of days I'll ask eBay for help.

eBay won't help, it's too late for a claim. You will need to go to consumer direct
