International postage question

As a rule I do not post internationally as i really cant be bothered, only sell a few bits now and then, no big deal. However, had pleading email asking if I would send a shirt I was selling to Norway so amended listing to allow int bids, having emailed back with new postage costs.
All ok and this ebayer wins auction...now he has asked me, when posted, to mark the item as a gift with a value of £5 (paid £23).
Item is being sent Internatonally signed For - anyone any ideas if agreeing to this request will potentially cause me problems?
Thanks for any advice - bit of a novice.

Cheeky buyer, not nice behaviour. They shouldn't bid on overseas items if they don't want to pay customs!
If your eBay sales could be construed as a business (large amounts sold regularly etc) then yes, you'd be unwise to mark it as a gift. However, International Signed For is hardly FedEx, and is not the most checked service, so it would probably be fine in your situation.
IntSigFor is rarely actually signed for at business premises even in this country, so it's more like proof you've sent it, and you can usually tell if it's arrived at the country it's bound for.
I'd send it as a gift this time, but if anyone tries it on again, tell them they will be liable to customs charges as you will send it the proper way.

Have sold a lot on ebay and often been asked this question. My answer is always no. I do not commit fraud.

I don't understand why anyone would want to buy from someone who is dishonest.

You are probably unlikely to get caught but is it really worth the risk.

Grin gut instinct - although I could do with git instinct when using Ebay, would be very handy!
