WWYD re buyer wanting to return item

So bloody annoying. I sold a leather jacket and in that section ebay limits postage to £4. Obviously a leather jacket costs a lot more than that to post so my decent winning bid was a relief.
I specifically listed the items size when jacket laid flat with all the zips done up, armpit to armpit, armpit to wrist, shoulder to shoulder, shoulder to wrist, back length.
And he emails me and opens a case on ebay (no really cheers for that Hmm) asking for a return.
I am pissed off as I think I have done everything within reason to measure it, and he agrees its a great jacket but just does fit!
I think he should have measured himself before spending 80 quid on a jacket - AIBU not to accept the return?

What was your returns policy in the listing? My default setting is "returns not accepted" - if yours was no returns then surely he hasn't got a leg to stand on?

Bugger it, mine normally is, but clearly this one slipped through unnoticed. Does that mean I have to take it back? Ebay will clearly side with the buyer like they always do...

Stick to your guns, from what you have said you have done everything right, its his fault if it doesn't fit. E-bay does not always side with the buyer, i have one a case as a seller after soimeone complained about the condition of some childrens clothes, e-bay decided that i had decribed the items well and as most items were new with tags that the buyer was just trying to pull a fast one.

Even if you set your default as 'returns not excepted' you still have to except returns if the item is not as described (so don't be fooled by this).

Let him go through paypal desputes and see what happens, i am 75% sure that he will not get his money back.

I think eBay will tell him to return it to you and once he gives tracking showing that they have attempted to or have delivered back to you they will give back his money.

The default returns not accepted on a listing doesn't really mean much to be honest - I think they should get rid of it.

Well I said to him 'with respect the measurements were on the listing'... will see what happens, fingers crossed. I have done silly things like this before but I just put it back on ebay and sell it again rather than faff about returning things.

If I were you I would escalate the case and ask him to return it. You might find he doesn't bother returning it anyway.

no point prolonging it. Then you can get it back and relist before winter is over and folk want to buy summer clothing.
