Seller cancelling sale when goods been received ?

Very odd, can anyone shed some light on this ?

I recently bought some cowboy boots on Ebay which were delayed in arriving owing to postal difficulties in my area. I let the seller know that they had not arrived and she gave me tracking number and told me they were still with post office, all very helpful.

A few days later they arrived and I left positive feedback and said how pleased I was with the boots. This was about a week ago.
Yesterday I had a message from Ebay telling me that the buyer recently opened a case to cancel a transaction for the item - they did not give a reason, it simply says 'other'.

I have emailled the buyer to let them know I have received the goods but can't understand what the process of cancellation involves. Are they trying to refund me ? I have until the 29th to tell Paypal what I intend to do otherwise cancellation becomes automatic. If so, what then ?

no they are trying to pretend the sale was cancelled to get their final fees back - so refuse the cancellation otherwise they will get a refund. If you ignore it they will get the refund, so you do have to refuse it.

Done and done fergoose, thank you - is this quite a common thing to do then ? I've never thought of it before.

No it isn't common unless the transaction is cancelled due to buyer not paying or seller not selling. Either your seller has a cheek or they sent the cancellation to the wrong buyer.
