Tracked international postage and blocking international bids

Hiya, I'm mid-auction selling some records on behalf of my Dad - turns out some of them are quite valuable c.£100. Having come a croppa posting internationally in the past - i.e. not being able to prove delivery because int'l signed-for is only trackable in the UK - I was determined not to fall into this trap again. I stated clearly in all my listings that int'l bidders should contact me to agree postage before placing bids. However, an Italian lady currently winning one of the auctions failed to do this, she's now got in touch but says she isn't willing to pay for fully tracked service because of the extra expense. What will happen if she wins? Should I ask her to cancel her bid? I've now amended my site preferences to block all non-UK bidders - so this should stop any future non-UK bids. TIA.

just block her now and cancel her bid - if you don't want to sell to abroad then don't. I have heard Italian post is not the most reliable. And whether she is willing or not, signed for is for your protection as a seller, a buyer can claim not to receive and get all money back, so you must protect yourself by sending items with online proof of delivery.

Make sure you send item special delivery or courier in the UK by the way, recorded won't insure an item for £100

If she does win the auction, go to the dispute centre and ask for a cancellation of the transaction on the grounds that she is in a country you don't ship to.

You can also cancel her bid.

Just the fact that she is bidding on a high value item but doesn't want it to go by secure postage is ringing alarm bells for me.

I had to stop sending anything abroad due to people claiming the item didn't arrive and then getting a refund of item cost PLUS the more expensive international postage.

I live in Italy and having not received 7 ebay parcels in 2mths a couple of years ago, I always offer to pay signed for now.

I have had no problems since.

Great advice - thanks all, I've cancelled her bid.
