Quite a few watchers, but no bidders.....they come good in the end don't they?

Have a pram on, so collection only which will obviously restrict no of potential buyers.

I have around 15 watchers so far, and a few days left but no-one is bidding. I accept some people watch just out of curiosity, but do you think bidding will take off nearer the end?

Have a reserve on it, but just want shot of it to be honest. What's your experience?

That is so annoying; they are all waiting until last minute to try to get the best price.
I've had 8 watchers and only one bidder (sob). And 2 watchers & a last minute bidder war.

this is a good reason to make the start bid = reserve.

I once got 15 watchers on a vintage item which still only went for £2.20 in the end having started at 99p.

A while back, I had 35 watchers for an electrical item and it had 2 bidders in the end but I was happy with the price it went for.

I now always make my starting price the reserve price just in case I get the one bid unless I am happy to let it go for 99p. I have 33 watchers on an item of clothing at the moment but only 2 bids. If I get no more bids then I'm happy to sell it at that price. If there is a bidding war in the last 10 seconds and it goes for more then it's a bonus.

I had a cot bed on a few weeks ago, collection only. I've relisted it about 4 times now. Each time I had between 10 and 15 watchers.......It's still stuck in my living room in bits Hmm

I've now had 6 emails from people if they can buy it now or asking how much i want to sell it for.

Why don't they just bid what they want to pay and take it from there??? They have nothing to loose Hmm

fragglerocker - I have had good success with advertising large items locally. I sold our cot bed on our local Tesco noticeboard. I have also had success with Gumtree, £50 and under column in local paper, Free-ads and AdTrader. All of these places are free to list.

I'm bad for this - I will watch and wait until near the end to see how much the price is rising and then go in at the last minute to win it. Lots of people do.
And yes, people do have something to lose - they give away their interest in it, which means that others know they need to put their final bids in higher - some people don't like to give their "hand" away too soon.

I put 16 items up at the weekend on 7 day sale lengths when it was free listings.

Maybe there was a more widespread spike in uploads for sale and therefore your items could be further down the search results?

4 of my items have a bid. Another four don't even have watchers. the rest i expect will appear further up the search list as other people's auctions end so I will get more hits. And hopefully successful sales, although the point of it for me is to clear the house not make money, so if they don't sell they will go on freecycle or to a good charity shop.
