Poor item, great service, what feedback?

I bought an item before christmas, which was described as being in excellent condition. Unfortunately, when it was delivered it was quickly clear that it was in much worse condition than described.

I contacted the seller, who has responded to every email courteously and promptly, and has offfered a refund - I have sent the item back to them. I cant fault their way of dealing with me, although having gone back over their description of the item it was quite clearly over egging the pudding, so to speak. The item is in much worse condition than they state in their description.

So, Ive been in a quandry about how to give feedback and wondering what others would do. I dont think it would be fair to give positive feedback because their description of the item is clearly wrong....

Advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I probably wouldn't leave any. If seller was courteous and refunded in full, including return costs, I wouldn't leave a neut or a neg. Up to you though.

If you leave a pos you could mark their stars low - but if the seller has resolved the problem I wouldn't mark them down for it.

Pos/neg/neutral is for the transaction though, staring is for individual bits of it.

If seller has been good, personally I would leave a poitive with the comment of 'Item not as described, very helpful seller, full refund given'.

Then star down for item as described.

You don't have to leave any feedback if you don't want to - it is voluntary by the way.

I, as seller, had to give a refund once, and still got positive feedback - along the lines of "item not as described, agreement reached, good ebayer" or similar.
