Selling fake shoes

I have a pair of 'Christian Louboutin' shoes that I was given as a gift and I am almost 100% sure they aren't genuine. Does anyone know if I would be able to sell them? I realise I can't say they are genuine and wouldnt want ot give anyone the impression they were, but can I say I think they are fake? Or just sell them as a pair of shoes without using the brand name? I'm not trying to rip anyone off, just having a clearout and want to sell them if I can.

you could list them as just plain shoes as it were - but do not mention the name louboutin anywhere - for instance if you put louboutin in the title saying they were like them, that would be keyword spamming and your listing could be removed

You can say red sole shoes. Just don't mention Christian Louboutin in the post.

I was in a similar situation (more down market label though). I did not use the label in the listing title. In the description I said something like "labelled as brand X but almost certainly fake". Priced appropriately they sold no problem.

If I use the name in the description as you say sprinkles then will I still be doing that keyword spamming thing? Also, have no idea what would be an appropriate price for them, I mean they are sort of worth nothing if you really want CL, on the other hand they are really nice shoes so worth something in their own right. I do appreciate everyones advice on this, don't want to get in trouble with ebay OR con anyone.

Thought of another thing, is it better to not include the box/shoe bags etc in the pic either then in case it is giving anyone the impression they are genuine? And should I send these or just repackage? Maybe I should just give them to the charity shop, it'd be so much easier! If only I wasn't skint hey.

I wouldn't mention the name at all to be honest

there is some info here

You shouldn't mention that you think they are fakes either as it's against Ebay rules to sell fake goods.

However, you are then leaving yourself open to claims being made by the purchaser if they buy them thinking they are genuine and you won't have a leg to stand on as you can't prove their authenticity.

Bit of a minefield, really...

TittyBojangles · 11/12/2011 15:32

So if I sell them just as 'red sole shoes', don't mention CL anywhere or picture anything that says CL on I can still get in trouble as when the buyer receives them if they complain I knowingly sold fakes, even though I didn't describe them as anything to do with CL, but therefore must have known they were fakes. AAAARrrrggghhh. Does anyone want some shoes??

I don't know if I would risk it - I agree - minefield.
