If you buy something described as 'excellent condition' and it turns up faded from washing and some of the detail (a velvet ribbon trim) scolded from iron but more noticeable to touch than to see do you just think ah well and leave pos feedback even tho you were a bit disappointed.

I have had a few thing recently that are thing i would sell with a description of 'seen better days, but plenty play wear left' that have been described as good or excellent condition. I know we all have different standards but it is really hard because you cant tell until it arrives.

On a plus note it gives me great confidence as a seller as i am clearly picky!!

firstly i would find the items listing to make sure you have the photos and description as proof to keep to show that it did not look or say anything about it being faded contact the seller to see what they have to say about it they may give you the money back or ask you to sent the item back. if you have no luck with the seller then put your feedback honestly and contact ebay they will look into it and if they feel that you have been wronged they will reimburse you the money. also a good thing to do before bidding again is check their feedback and percentage. hope this helps :0)

Thanks for replying cavegirl. I always check feedback before buying, this person has 100% and good feedback comments, also pics look fine.

I bought three dresses from her, two seperate auctions. One dress described as a bit of bobbling but other wise perfect. It was bobbled all over and in ok condition, one was nice but very slightly wash faded. i was ok with these, not overjoyed like when something is really lovely but fine. Other dress was as i said before, scolded pn the detail by an iron and definite colour fade.
The thing is these things are all a matter of opinion and i really just wondered what other people did when not quite 100% happy. The items are ok but not great. Probably i am over thinking it. Cant quite be arsed with the whole complaining thing but at the same time if all items i bought from ebay were like this i wouldnt ever buy.

Sorry im such a moan tonight, tired, long day and disappointed with my purchases!

I agree contact the seller - and of course leave appropriate feedback and stars too

I think some sellers stretch the truth to be honest - some items I have received aren't hardly fit for the dogs bed.

JaneBirkin · 30/11/2011 22:31

Oh it is difficult. I think normally contact the seller.

I left a neutral today for something with a bashed box described as brand new...seller is a very busy trader with thousands of items so didn't bother to contact, plus it was cheapish...I just put item was fine but box clearly not new. I only did this as I saw similar feedback from another buyer.

I feel guilty now though. Contact her and decide what oyu want her to do to resolve it...return for refund or part refund? Or just an apology.

cavegirl123 · 30/11/2011 22:36

no need to opologise hun but complaing is the best way so that sellers do not get away with selling rubbish it sounds to me you are perfectly with in your rights to to leave bad feedback and hopefuly get your money back maybe this seller only has 100% because no one has dared to complain i hope you manage to get it sorted

cavegirl123 · 30/11/2011 22:38

yeah agree defo contact the seller first you usually find that the seller is more than willing to do something rather than recieve bad feedback

iambach · 30/11/2011 22:51

Thanks for all the replies. Have sent seller a message saying the dress is faded and detail scolded and that i wouldnt have described this as excellent condition. Will see what she says. I am just getting really fed up with things being described as godd/excellent condition and receiving things that are pretty washed out and scabby. Are peoples standards dropping or are folk depending on the British stiff upper lip of not complaining when we are unhappy with something.

fed up fed up fed up Sad

I think lots of sellers are dishonest quite frankly!
