So just decided to bite the bullet and start selling stuff, but what sort of thing is easiest to get a decent price for & what would I be wasting my time trying to sell? I have kids' clothes, maternity clothes, a wedding dress, books... What should I look out for to sell? Thanks

I'd advise selling kids clothes in bundles unless you have particularly expensive brands.
I've never had much success with books. Good luck!

Firstly, do you have anything that might work as a Xmas present: new items, computer/Xbox games in good condition etc if you do I'd list them pretty soon. Prices for these items will usually be higher in December.

Kids clothing: a few pointers
Seasonal stuff usually does better: for example winter coats & snow suits now and sun suits in June.
Any Xmas designs? If so list now.
Sought after brands (Joules/Boden) generally sell well as single items.
Less sought after brands (Next/M&S/GAP) consider selling big items singly (coats/snowsuits) but I'd probably bundle together the smaller items.
Supermarket stuff: often just not worth the bother as postage charges tend to make it cheaper just to buy new. But, I have sold two bundles successfully as collect only.

Maternity clothing: sells well IMO, keep it seasonal though (it a few months ahead) as people expecting in the height of next summer may well not yet know they're pregnant!

Hope this helps!

books useless as you can pick up all popular stuff at charity shop for £1,50 if you sell at 99 and post at £2 you make about 60p and most won't sell

hardbacks sell better so do first edition, had some paperback enid blytons could not get ris of even in bundles of 4 had 4 first edition hardbacks got £16

out of printbooks, art books, sell also the sort that look victorian for your period bookcase

I don't have much luck with books (or dvds) but kids clothes, definite winner. I have solds loads of DS's Next stuff and made quite a bit. A pair of his jeans went for just over £15. Vests and pyjamas also have sold well for me. I sell his t shirts and tops in bundles, last one of t shirts went for about £8. Agree with toobreathless, supermarket stuff not really worth it but I sometimes put it in a bundle with good stuff just to get rid!

For books that are in nearly new condition I would rather sell on amazon, unless they are photography books, special editions etc. You will be surprised what people buy on ebay though. I once cleared out my drawers and sold a designer perfume bottle that was 10% full for £5 (not bad as was just going to throw it away). I have had success selling shoes too (brands like Converse and Topshop). Just always be honest about the description. For maternity clothes, Isabella Oliver clothes sell well.
