Buyer has changed her mind

The winning bidder does not want the item. I want to cancel the transaction. I did live chat with ebay but they could not explain how to go about this apart from opening an unpaid case claim. They said that the buyer needs to cancel it. They buyer it telling me I need to . I'm sure the buyer is wrong. She is a bit stupid (she started asking questions after winning the item, and clearly had not read the listing properly, she also wanted me to lend her the accessories to the item and she'd return them when she was done with them, even though I had stated clearly in the listing that they were not included)! Basically she is dodgy. I would prefer not to open an unpaid case claim, because ebay will send her demands for payment, when we have both agreed to cancel the transaction. Help!

i wouldn't rely on her to agree to a mutual cancellation - if she refuses you don't get your fees back and she can still leave feedback

Go to 'account' then 'resolution centre' then on the right either cancel transaction (which you need her agreement for) or hit haven't received payment yet to file unpaid case (which means she can't leave feedback and she gets a non paying bidder strike, and you get your fees back). You have to wait until 4 days after end of auction to do the latter.

It's not the same as opening an un paid item case. You click on open unpaid item/cancel transaction.

You can then click that you wish to cancel the transaction and it will give you the option of buyer changed mind or you and buyer have decided not to complete transaction.

Buyer needs to agree to this in order for you to get your fees back but if they refuse then there is nothing you can do.

I would send her a very polite email saying you are going to cancel it your end and would she please agree to it in order for you to get your fees back and so that eBay don't keep hassling her to pay for the item.

thanks for your advice. I feel bad opening an unpaid case claim, as she will get hassle from ebay when she had agreed to cancel in the email exchange. It was a free insertion so am fingered x that she agrees and I don't lose the final selling price fee. I'm probably stupid as that is exactly what you said not to do fergoose!

no you're not stupid! - she may agree and all be fine and dandy, but if she disagrees to the cancellation you will still have to pay the final value fees which is 10% of the final price. It is entirely up to you what you do.

If you open a non paying dispute on day 4 she gets a reminder, then on day 7 you can close it and get your fees back. The buyer won't get lots of hassle, just a payment reminder from eBay.

ok, so luckily for me the buyer agreed and it's all sorted. Now I want to make a 2nd chance offer. So i clicked on it under "other actions" next to the item in my sold list in myebay. It redirects me to sign in again. Even though I am obviously signed in to be looking at myebay. Then when I put my password in it just zaps back to the login page. FFS. Any suggestions?
