Your best ebay bargain

What has been your best ebay bargain?

I won a Vertbaudet coat in as new condition for DS last weekend and as I was the only bidder I got it for 99 p. I am still scratching my head why nobody else bid on it, I thought Vertbaudet was popular.

Now, not really a bargain considering the high sum, but still a bargain - At the end of summer I won a wooden two storey playhouse in perfect nic, only two years old for £250 - original price £1000. The lady only had to sell as she was going through divorce, sad for her, luck for me.

So, what have your best bargains been?

I just sold a decent child bike seat for 99p.
That has been somebody else's bargain (sigh).
And they haven't even bothered to pay for it yet, either. :(
When I tried to buy something similar 9 years ago I couldn't manage to pay less than 20 quid!!

I bought one of those lovely 8 in 1 climbing frames - the big plastic sturdy ones - for 150 pounds 5 years ago.

The vendor was happy, I was chuffed.

I sold it the summer just gone for 265 pounds.

Bargainous! Grin

I got a nearly new Jane buggy with all the kit for £50. £500 ish in the shops so I was thrilled.

fergoose · 15/11/2011 08:43

my engagement ring - antique 14ct aquamarine paid £700, worth nearly £10K (not that I would ever sell it mind you and it costs bomb to insure)

lagerlout · 15/11/2011 08:58

I won a solid wooden sideboard, originally from House of Fraser so I priced it up at being between £1200 and £1500. I paid £11.51 one for it but saddo that I am was bidding on a New Years Eve when everyone else was out partying.

An0therName · 15/11/2011 12:52

A really lovely bed - people had had it as wedding present for their spare room so only been slept in a couple of times - it was 200 pounds but worth well over 1500
sold a co-sleep for about 20 pounds more than I paid for it after 5 years and 3 babies in it
ragged probably not the season for bike seats...

I don't have any stand out bargains that spring to mind other than the bugaboo. It came with lots of bits that I didn't need so, after re-ebaying them, the cost of the bugaboo was pretty low. Also, I really love it but couldn't have justified the cost of a new one.

Mostly, the things I bid on are things that everyone else bids on Hmm so I don't often get eBay bargains but I am a bargain hunter elsewhere so many of the things I buy get ebayed for a similar price when I've had my use out of them - buggies and handbags mainly Grin.

I bought a couple of skirts on a single listing, just described as "two skirts", with a really bad photo, and got them for 99p.

When they arrived, one was Boden, and immaculate, but not my taste. I re-listed it, and sold it for about £25.

I still wear the other skirt.

CointreauVersial · 15/11/2011 13:24

I also bought a huge hand-made olive-wood chopping board, made to measure. It cost about £9, including postage, and arrived beautifully wrapped directly from Morocco. I reckon the £9 barely covered the postage.

overmydeadbody · 15/11/2011 13:29

this, for 99p was a particularly memorable Ebay bargain! It made me very happy.

notcitrus · 15/11/2011 14:03

I got a badly-listed Tiny Love baby gym, immacculate, with batteries included, and with postage it was still under a tenner!
It's about to be used for its fourth baby (my second)

I've got some great furniture that's been good value for what it is and less hassle than driving to auctions.
Actually my first ever Ebay purchase was a bargain - aquarium, cabinet stand, and huge amounts of accessories, and fish, for £100 (or around £103.03, I suspect!) Just the tank and cabinet were about £500 less than a year earlier, but the guy was emigrating. 8 years later I'm trying to sell the same tank - it made £60 but the buyer has pulled out.

Had some wonderful baby clothes from Ladybird and similar for 99p.

I love eBay. Recently I have bought a brand new bambini pramette for £35, a very nice big bouncy pram and seat for £34. A pliko p3 new with bag and apron and raincover for £15 and genuine heeley skates new for 99p.

lynniep · 15/11/2011 14:12

my wedding dress, which cost me 50 quid (including the veil and tiara) perfect condition, exactly what I wanted, and worth a grand. The picture was terrible so I had to cross my fingers, but when I tried it on I was so chuffed!

saoirse86 · 15/11/2011 14:16

My sister bought a bugaboo for £120 I think it was. Then sold the changing bag for £20 I think and when she was listing the changing bag she found £20 of vouchers and a £20 note! The seller had listed it without mentioning some damage and hadn't replied to my sister's emails so she decided to keep the money.

So really got it for £60, that's a bargain!

WailyWailyWaily · 15/11/2011 14:19

I sold my wedding dress on ebay for more than I paid for it in Monsoon :)

saoirse86 · 15/11/2011 14:22

My sister and I have also bought and sold double buggies for our dd's to go in when together. They're only 4 months but we've managed to make money and upgrade each time and finally bought a brand new one (not on eBay) for £350 which we're really happy with. We started with a twin maclaren for £21.

MamaPizza · 16/11/2011 09:04

Some great bargains! And even better to the ones who were able to re-sell with a profit.

Don't you just hate it when someone else gets a bargain from your items? Ah well, some win some lose...

I bought a pair of trainers for £22 in the sale and realised I should have gone for the size up as soon as I wore them. I listed them hoping for a tenner and got £30! The buyer left feedback to say how much she loved them too, which made it all the better.

5inthebed · 16/11/2011 19:39

MIL was wanting a new suite but only had £100 so I browsed Ebay and found one local and nearly new. Starting bid was £50 and I emailed asking if they would accept the £100, they declined. Won the suite for £50 as was only bidder and suite was in excellent condition, still smelled new and everything.

browneyesblue · 16/11/2011 19:41

Furniture bundle from show flat which included an Ikea dining table, chaise, bed, and chair, Habitat dining chairs, window blinds and a few other bits for £35.

The seller had sour grapes, but he hadn't set a reserve, it was just before Christmas and he had left a very small window for collection. I initially felt guilty and was going to pay him extra, but he withdrew a couple of the items when I turned up to collect, saying he had listed them by accident! Complete lie, as he had included photos of them in the auction.

The extra cash stayed in my pocket, and I enjoyed my bargains guilt-free.
