I paid for the bloody thing when I collected it.
Why the hell would she do this to me?
Am so angry that she can give me a bad name when I have done absolutely nothing wrong.
Have contacted Ebay who advised me to contact her and ask (beg) her to close the case.
Have done this but am so pissed off now. Why should I waste my time grovelling to her when she is in the wrong.
If it turns out I am cleared does she get a bad record on Ebay?

she has done it to get her final value fees back

did you pay with cash

ashamednamechanger · 10/11/2011 21:44

Yes I paid cash.
What do you mean about final value fees?

OP posts:
ChristinedePizanne · 10/11/2011 21:46

WTF? Why would she do that?

whoopeecushion · 10/11/2011 21:46

Send her a polite email saying that she must have opened a case against you accidentally as you paid in cash when you picked the item up and could she please close it as you are worried about getting an unpaid item strike.

She actually might have opened this case by accident. Otherwise, she may be a scumbag. eBay will not give you a strike if you respond. They give a strike if you don't respond for 4 days after the case is opened.

If she doesn't close the case, you can report her to eBay for fraud. (trying to defraud them of fees). Make sure you keep all the messages in the my messages system - don't email directly to/from private email accounts.

ashamednamechanger · 10/11/2011 21:48

I still don't understand about getting her final fees back?
The item only cost 99p!

OP posts:
fergoose · 10/11/2011 21:54

the seller gets charged a fee when they list, then a final value fee based on what the item sold for. If a buyer doesn't pay they open this case to reclaim those final fees. For 99p it is what 10 or 15p. Have you responded to the eBay case stating that you paid in cash when you collected?

And yes if not a mistake seller is behaving fraudulently.

ashamednamechanger · 10/11/2011 22:00

Yes I have replied to Ebay and the seller. but no reply from her yet. Am gutted. Have only recently started trading on Ebay and was getting a really good feedback record. This has left me really disillusioned.
Why would she pick on me? Especially for such a paltry amount.

OP posts:
fergoose · 10/11/2011 22:04

well it could be a mistake. this will not affect your feedback. if you get a non payer strike against your account it won't matter. I think you need a few of these to have any affect. I think it was 3 in 6 months, but am not sure to be honest. If you get too many non paying strikes you can temporarily or permanently lose your account - but you are obviously a long way from that with only 1 strike.

Not that it makes the action of the seller right mind you.

ashamednamechanger · 10/11/2011 22:15

I don't see how it could be a mistake. You don't start a case against someone by ''mistake'' surely?

OP posts:
fergoose · 10/11/2011 22:30

well no - fair point.

tutu100 · 11/11/2011 18:01

You could be as horrible back by paying the money and then claiming it back as item not recieved. She will then have to refund you as she won't be able to provide a tracking number (and she has had her money already).

I was thinking she'd maybe done it in order to get you to pay again, but why would she bother for 99p?

I've never (fervently touches wood) been involved in a dispute either as a buyer or as a seller, but surely to goodwood ebay will simply ask the seller to explain why she handed over the item to a complete stranger who was supposed to be paying cash, but didn't?

What a pain, though- hope you get it sorted.

ashamednamechanger · 11/11/2011 22:39

Still no new developments.....but am going to fight her all the way!

OP posts:
fergoose · 11/11/2011 22:53

so you could pay it with paypal then that would stop the dispute, then immediately log into paypal and claim item not received to get your money back?

tutu100 · 12/11/2011 12:11

That's what I was thinking Fergoose. That would work wouldn't it? And then leave negative feedback for the seller. That is presuming they haven't got back to the OP with an apology and saying it is a mistake.

fergoose · 12/11/2011 12:17

yes it would work. They received the first item they paid for in cash, so opening a not received for a 2nd item is perfectly correct :)
And yes, I would leave very neg feedback too :)
