Is it wrong to try to sell this

I bought a dress for DD off EBay. It was listed as 12-18 months but on arrival is 6-9 months. Seller was great, very apologetic and has refunded price and postage. She has also told me not to bother returning it but to give it to a friend or charity shop.

I have no friends with girls this will fit and it is a gorgeous dress which I sort of feel would be wasted on our local charity shops. Would it be very wrong if I were to put it on EBay in my next listing run?

why would it be wrong? Its yours and you don't need it. ebay it!

TrinityRhino · 08/11/2011 20:48

not wrong at all
you didn't set out to get it off her TO sell it

but you now have through no fault of your own something that you don't need

sell it without guilt

no it's not wrong at all - you could always give some of the proceeds to charity if you feel bad.

muddysnowballs · 08/11/2011 21:00

It's yours, so sell it! Grin

I have just listed a pair of boots that i got a few weeks ago for DD, they are a small fit and DD doesn't like them. So i'm selling them on!

You could always give the money to a charity, when you list! ( after p&p, wrapping costs, fees are taken out!)

It wouldn't be wrong even if you had bought it with the intention of selling on. Some people make a business of it :)

debka · 09/11/2011 06:28

It would fit my DD- send it to me! Grin

Well I don't know - I'd give it to charity as she suggested, I think. You have your refund, she has lost out on the money and the item, I think it would be a touch unfair to capitalise on her mistake. But that's just my feeling.

Agree with Thumbwitch. The seller requested that you pass it on so you should. You have your refund and don't have the hassle of posting the dress back.

I often give really nice things away on Freecycle, Facebook etc. and ask that they be passed on when finished with. I'd be really upset if someone then sold them for profit, just because technically they actually own them.
