items that come up small?

I just bought two tops for my dd2 Next age 4-5. She has just turned 3. One of the tops fits fine but the other is much smaller and so neat, looks like she is just about out of it. They both say 4-5 but there is about two inches of a difference in size all over, sleeves and body.

Do you think this should have been mentioned in the discription? I do and have emailed the seller to say this but wondered if most people agree that only fair to mention this in the description as pretty significant difference.

iambach, It's not the sellers fault!

If an items label says 4-5 then the seller has described it correctly.

I think as a buyer ( i buy alot & sell Blush ) you have to get savy with the sizes from different brands.

ie. - Next/Boden always comes up small! So buy the next size up.
M&S tends to be bigger.

Sorry, pressed too soon!

I always try and let the buyer know if the sizing is different from the label.

Not all DC are the same size for age group/label.

As you say in your Op, you bid on a top in a larger size than your DC, hoping it would fit ( this is what i do!)

I have also been upset when an item has been too small for my DC. ( yes, it's usually Next!)

I try to let the buyer know as well. If in doubt, list the smallest size it could be, because children always grow, they don't tend to shrink! Although, if you are listing a lot of stuff quickly you probably don't necessarily have time to check sizes against each other.

I was annoyed recently as bought a bundle of trousers listed as age 2-3, description said "Range of sizes from 18-3, my 2 year old has just outgrown them." which I took to mean one or two might be 18-24 month size. ALL of them were size 12-18 months except for one pair of 2-3! So why not list them as that??

This is why buying and selling clothes is a nightmare

the seller could have said the items were small for size and given measurements, also a buyer could always ask for measurements. In the absence of measurements I would presume as a buyer the items were true to size, so I can see why you would be upset they are not right.

because the label said 4-5 and she listed it as such, you were free to check nexts sizing etc.

it is annoying.

The thing is there were two tops. Both Next 4-5. But one was tiny. I think that was worth mentioning. I know Next to be small. Thats why i bought 4-5 for a just turned 3 year old however one of the 4-5's is around the size of the 2-3 tops i have from Next.
