Feel guilty, someone's paid more than my item's worth... WWYD?

DH says fuck it they got auction fever and it's not our problem, I feel bad though! I started a couple of items at under £1, not expecting to get much at all, they are just cheap books. Somebody bought both at almost £8. So not exactly masses of money. But still.

Should I do anything? My description was fairly ambiguous to be fair, didn't say much other than mentioning the character on them and that questions were welcome.

I am a sap aren't I Blush wwyd? Should I just leave it?

Are you nuts? They have paid what they chose to pay, unless the books are in shitty condition and you implied they were perfect, just enjoy the money!

BertieBotts · 07/11/2011 22:04

Maybe they really wanted that particular edition (e.g. to complete a set) and couldn't get it anywhere else and were happy to pay the extra?

Paperbacks are about £8 in the shops now anyway. Don't feel bad, be pleased!

HauntyMython · 07/11/2011 22:07

Fair enough :) I have not been dishonest, they are brand new items, just not very good ones, IMO.

Maybe their child really loves the character in which case it's worth the money to them. So I will leave it.

You're right bluddy I'd be shit at sales. Probably why I work in a library instead! :o

As long as you described any faults/damage correctly you have nothing to worry about

bless you for worrying though - I think it's nice of you to be concerned

Bung in a packet of chocolate buttons for the child and they will be chuffed I am sure :)

Hey I sell old newspapers for £3 a go sometimes. It's up to buyers what they want to pay.

exoticfruits · 07/11/2011 22:21

I get like that but I think I am just too soft! I have sent with postage free ,but they tend to think that you are a nutcase! Just let them pay, it isn't your fault. Several times I have bid on things and in the end it has gone for something more expensive than you can buy new in a shop!

LoveBeingAFirework · 08/11/2011 06:07

I know what you mean, I actually sent extra money once when I win something at a stupid price and saw when it arrived that they undercharged on the postage too.

With that in mind your items are only worth what someone is willing to pay.

LoveBeingAFirework · 08/11/2011 06:08

Oh and remember at least one other person thought they were worth almost that too for it to go up!

I am having a similar (though feeling less guiltyGrin) ebay experience at the moment...dd having finally grown out of Thomas (praise heaven and all the angels) is unearthing 1,000s of the things. I am surrounded by small trains with obscure names, all of which I paid about £3 for. Going on ebay italy for12 euro some of them!

I guess I understand it more when people pay for branded stuff that they know is high quality. I bought various packs of duplo for the DCs, but we only wanted the bricks - put the duplo people together, which we didn't want, somebody paid over a fiver for 4 of them and a dog.
