Item not as described - I am the seller

Hi last week I sold an item described as BNWT, unused and in its original packaging. It's a Hippychick Hipseat that I bought for DD but subsequently never used so decided to clear out. I paid £36 from Kiddiecare and sold it for £15 - a bargain.

Today I received a sarky note from the buyer saying the item is not as described, that is shows signs of use and is dirty. This is impossible as I literally never unpacked the thing! She also said it did not come in its original packaging as it is not in a box. But this is how I received it - in a clear plastic bag (like a large ziplock bag) there was no box!

I'm really annoyed that the seller is basically calling me a liar but I've told her I will refund if she returns the item. Did I do the right thing? Do I need to refund postage too? I plan on relisting on ebay as brand new and unused again (I hope she hasn't used it).

What is the best course of action in this scenario when it's buyer's word against mine and she can't possibly be right?

Yes you did do the right thing - she should return it unused in the condition it was sent and you will refund her the original payment

She will have to pay the return postage costs to you of course

Do you think she got you muddled with another seller?

If she raises a dispute with eBay she will have to prove it was sent back to you with online tracking before they will refund her by the way.
