First time seller on ebay ( that's me) - 17 minutes to go on my listings - what can I expect?

I am selling for hte first time on ebay. Put my items on for one week to end tonight. None have acheived anything really good so far although most have one or two bids but quite a few watchers on some. I have 17m left - does a lot happen then as I have heard some exciting tales of people bidding in last few minutes or is that all myth and what I've got by now is what I'll end up with|?

I'm a last minute bidder, and it can happen that there will be a flurry of activity as those last minute bids come in. There are also "snipers" that can do the bidding for you. Hope you get the prices you want!

I have had stuff that has gone up by £15-20 in the last few minutes. I had loads of watchers on them though.

Good luck!

I always bid in the last 10 seconds or less so don't lose heart just yet.

Oh wow - thanks eveyrone.

Major silly quesiton as of course I should have thought of this first but what do I send a suit jacket ( ladies ) in by way of packing? I have smaller items that I thought of sending in bubble envelopes to protect them but a suit jacket doesn't fit an envelope of course?

Dh just (about 5 mins ago) sold a book... a BOOK! that went from £27 to £82 in the last 8 secs! So don't give up yet.

Another qustion - last few minutes left - can (I watch teh p[rices increase at the last moment if they do so by watching the screen on my ebay selling page where they are all listed or does it move too fast for that?

It wasn't even a proper book more like some old aeroplane notes!
We have found recently that things go for more if you offer international postage

lisalisa · 06/11/2011 20:09

Thanks all. Bit scared of selling internationally as how do you revise postage then if you've already quoted it? Had an incident once that a friend reported where an ovreases buyer only paid the postage quoted and she had to send it at that even though it was much more . Is there any way to say legally on ebay that if posted overseas then postage must be recalculatd?

yes - you just add different postage options for the location

your friend must not have set up the auction correctly for pricing or had not calculated the right price for international bidders i guess?

fruitshootsandheaves · 06/11/2011 20:21

We always just put in the comment box after the postage fees that international buyer should contact us first for postage costs. Then you can work it out and give them an idea before they bid.
