Buying a new mobile phone on eBay - does this auction look legit?

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HTC-DESIRE-Z-A7272-UNLOCKED-MOBILE-PHONE-2GB-NEW-/120806116655?pt=UK_Mobile_Phones&hash=item1c209b0d2f#shId

So at the bottom he's written:

Returns Policy

ATTENTION:
NO RETURNS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE IF SEAL IS BROKEN.

We offer a 7 Day return policy provided the item is returned in its original packaging as received SEALED. Buyer is responsible for return postage.

Does that mean a return if I changed my mind? For example, if I bought the phone and it was fake, ebay would find in my favour right?

I'm definitely going to pay for it with a credit card, to be safe. If I use CC through Paypal that will cover me won't it? Just in case. He's got 99.6% positive feedback though so I'm pretty sure he's decent.

Ahh... the joys of eBay! Smile

If you buy a mobile from a store such as phones4u they say they won't take them back if seal is broken, which isn't helpful as how do you know you like it if you can't open the box!! I think it is just standard practice for mobile buying. If it is fake you have lots of come backs, seller is protecting himself from someone putting in identical phone that is damaged and returning has as a damaged phone - IYSWIM

his not has

JujyFruits · 06/11/2011 19:34

I wouldn't buy it.

If you're going to spend that amount of money, you need to get it from a physical place (ie. shop) where you can take it back if you have any probs with it, and there's a guarantee. Either that or a online shop with excellent customer services like Amazon.

I've bought mobiles off ebay before - succesfully - it was so much cheaper than getting one from a named store. This guy has 99.6% from over 4000 transactions, I would say that was good.

I'm sorry but his return policy is utter rubbish. what if you open it and switch it on and it is dead, or it fails within thee first week - you can't return it for a refund? I am sure that is illegal.

Avoid at all costs - he is depriving his buyers of their rights and should be reported for it - utter disgrace

Thanks for the advice. Nearly let a "bargain" get the better of me. Bought it through Amazon.co.uk instead. :)

That's OK Fergoose, if she doesn't like it she can damage it and then send it back, it that not your usual advice ?????

fergoose · 07/11/2011 09:46

erm what? I have never told anyone to damage anything?!

tamitots · 07/11/2011 10:08

Does a dress from Primark not ring any bells with you. "Please help I have just bought overpriced C**p", My mistake you said to lie about the damage. As a seller on E bay I found that comment to be unbelievable that you could give someone advice to LIE to get money back. In all honesty you didn't hold much stock with me before that comment but since you put that up on here I just think you are a joke.

fergoose · 07/11/2011 10:28

I did not tell the buyer to damage the dress.

wow I am a joke now? how lovely!
