Annoying emails from buyers

I've listed quite a lot of things for sale all auctions starting at 99p.

I'm getting loads of emails from people asking for a Buy In Now price, even though other people have already bid on the items.

Also loads of people from overseas asking me to post there, even though I've only listed for sale in the uk.

I've replied to the first few but tbh I'm fed up of emailing people all the time and have stopped replying. Some people have emailed me the same question several times.

Is there anyway of stopping this?

Can you add to the listings there is no buy it now price and no shipping to the UK - spell it out to the idiots?

Uglymush · 06/11/2011 18:36

Sorry no shipping outside of the UK!

JujyFruits · 06/11/2011 18:40

Thanks yes I could do that.Do you think they'll actually read it and take note though? Grin

And is there a way to get this automatically put on your listing?

I could write it out every time, but I struggle enough with the description box as it is (trying to format it etc)...

I had an email today asking for a buy it now price so they could buy 10 items I was selling as a job lot. We worked out a price, I cancelled my auctions (no-one had bid on them yet) and put up a buy it now... and have heard nothing since. I'll be really pissed off if they have wasted my time....

JujyFruits · 06/11/2011 18:43

Exactly oakmaiden.

TBH I don't like8 to change it to buy it now even if no one has bid on it, as there may be people waiting* to bid on it and I don't like to give the cheeky fuckers first dibs. Why they can't just wait and bid like everyone else....sheesh!

Also buy it now costs you more in fees....

Well if they don't read it you can legitimately ignore their emails!. Sorry I only buy from ebay (I don't have the cheek to ask for an item to change to buy it now though!) not sell so don't know about automatic wording.

Oakmaiden · 06/11/2011 18:47

I probably wouldn't have, but they wanted to buy all 10 lots so I thought it would be easier...

Oakmaiden · 06/11/2011 20:01

And there you go - they haven't come back yet and now someone else has bought it. Poor them, huh?

Just goes to show that when asked to do a Buy It Now I always charge way too little, cos I am embarrassed to ask for more...

sixlostmonkeys · 07/11/2011 10:48

you can set your preferences to block bids from countries you don't post to - but if you are getting lots of interest why not work out the postage and sell to them - you may make more money.

Oakmaiden - does the (non) buyer who asked for 10 sell a similar product by any chance? they may have wanted to get rid of the competition

I mostly only do my listings for uk only, unless it's something I know could do well abroad (collectable bears etc). Just cannot be arsed to sort out overseas postage etc. But I don't generally buy from abroad either.

If it helps, I have a set paragraph with info like smoke/pet free home, happy to combine postage, blah blah blah. I have it saved in a word document and copy and paste it onto all my listings - can you do one of those including the info you mention in your OP?
