Posting to US.

I have an item listed, UK only, but someone has asked if I would be happy to post to the US, and would I amend the listing if I am willing to do so.

I have checked out the postage cost and the US buyer has told me they have used standard postage before (they've bought lots of similar items from UK sellers). It's about £6 regular postage and £11 signed for.

If I get them to email stating that they're happy to use un-insured postage, does that pass responsibility on to them as long as I have proof of posting? Or should I tell them I will only offer signed for postage to the US? Or not bother at all as I already have 1 bid and 8 watchers?!

Any advice from seasoned ebayers would be gratefully accepted!
Thank you.

no the responsibility is always with you as a seller to get goods to the buyer.

Thank you. So if I had proof of posting and it didn't arrive, I would still be liable.

yes definitely - the buyer would go to paypal and get all their money refunded. Unless you have online proof of delivery the buyer will always get a refund.

Cool, I will give it a wide berth I think! Thank you Smile

I regularly send stuff to USA canada and australia no more likely to go missing than in uk. I have never had a problem with international buyer, most people who report problems are in italy spain and greece where post does seem to go missing more often

send international signed for £4.99 is more valuable if not just ordinary airmail will be fine but don't send surface mail to australia as it takes longer than 45 days

I tend to use signed for if sells for more than £20-30

if you would send it in UK just second class it will be fine
