Sell to UK only but someone from outside the UK won one of my auctions

Hi

I'm new to selling on ebay.

Someone from outside of the UK has one one of my auctions. I clearly state I do not currently sell beyond the UK in all my listings.
I asked for the bidder to cancel the transaction, they refused saying have I got a problem selling to their country.

Any advice as to how to deal with this?

You stated your terms and are within your rights to cancel.

I don't sell abroad as I send my items trackable and find that becomes costly abroad.

I would report them to ebay. You are not obliged to sell outside the UK, especially when you specify you won't.

My DH had issues like this with scammers from all over. Ebay told him about where you can block certain bidders. I'll check to see if foreign bidders were included in this.

Just done a quick help search and here is their advice:

Here's how to block international buyers from bidding on your items:

1. Go to Site preferences in My eBay.
2. Click 'Show' next to the Buyer Requirements section.
3. Click 'Edit' after 'Block buyers who:'
4. Tick the 'Block buyers who are registered in countries to which I don't ship' box.

Should stop it happening again.

It also says what to do if you get a foreign bidder win:

If your listing has ended with an overseas buyer, but you specified in your listing that you're not willing to post your item overseas, you should write to the buyer and politely explain that they didn't fulfil the terms of your listing. You and the buyer have two options:

1. Buyer pays the extra postage costs for their country
   You can check how much it will cost to post the item to them and the buyer pays you the additional postage.

2. You agree to cancel the sale
   If you both agree not to continue with the transaction, you can refund the buyer's payment. You can then cancel the sale and claim a Final Value Fee credit.

With your help and after calling Ebay (took some bloody time to find a number!)
This is now resolved.
I received a ebay credit back and no more hassle off the buyer * phew *
I am now aware of how to change site preferences and have done so!!
