I only offered paypal in the listing.

He's asked for my address to send a cheque or my bank details to make a transfer.

I've told him paypal only.

Am I being anal?

Bank transfer would save you paypal fees and wouldn't give them the option of claiming money back - when I traded on ebay it was definately my prefered method.

All you need to do is provide them with account name, sort code and account number - all details included on your cheque book so no danger of getting your account emptied.

Accept the bank transfer - no paypal fees, and guaranteed no chargebacks.

Is perfectly safe for you to give him your details.

What about a postal order?

BlueCat2010 · 02/06/2011 13:10

Great minds obviously think alike! Grin

LynetteScavo · 02/06/2011 13:16

Are you sure bank transfer is OK??? Hmm

great minds indeed :)

yes of course a transfer is safe

you are only giving out details which are on your cheque book - the buyer will not have any access to your account with those details alone. They can only use them to pay money into your accout.

If you are worried then contact your bank, who will confirm what we have said.

It's OK, they paid by Paypal.

Thanks for the advice, I will remember it in future.

hmmm... I like the insurance you get through paypal. Also, why would they bid on an auction that says paypal only?

Who doesn't use paypal? I always think it's suspicious.
