I sold a book to someone for 99p. It was a heavy book and I misjudged postage so was going to be out of pocket. I just put it down to experience as I've sold a few things recently so am not out of pocket just hadn't made a penny on this book. Anyway, buyer paid so it's all packaged up ready to go and now she's messaged saying she made a mistake, her computer had frozen whilst she was viewing the book and didn't mean to buy it??? WTF?? Why pay? Ebay have taken their fee, I've already packaged it, what should I do? TIA

open a non payer dispute. they are taking the piss.

OddBoots · 17/05/2011 12:00

If they have paid then just post it, she will need to sell it on herself if she doesn't want it.

SkipToTheEnd · 17/05/2011 12:01

Tell her it's already been posted as you hadn't seen the message. If she wishes to return it, she'll have to refund you your postage and pay to send it back then you will refund the cost of the book.

She'll probably change her mind when she sees how much it costs to post it.

sixlostmonkeys · 17/05/2011 13:37

crikey you are a mean lot! Just how much do you want to punish someone for changing their mind?

Reply to her message telling her you will refund her the money and send a request to cancel. Then you can simply re-list it with the correct postage for someone else to buy. (She has done you a favour really)

Lilqueenie - you can't open a non-payer dispute when they have paid.

Oddboots - she may not want the hassle of selling it on and will bare this in mind when leaving feedback.

Skiptotheend - ebay doesn't work like that. If she wishes to return it for a refund she will get a full refund, not just the cost of the item. The seller will lose the cost of the postage in sending it and the buyer will lose the cost of the return postage. Royal Mail however will be happy.

when you refund you get your paypal fees back.
when the buyer agrees to a cancellation you get your ebay fees back

MissFenella · 17/05/2011 13:47

Why is she bothering for such a small amount? Most peculiar!

Curiousmama · 17/05/2011 16:03

Thanks all, yes thought it was strange to worry about it when it's such a small amount? Thing is I notice she paid before the message saying she'd accidentally bid?? Very odd?
