Can I cancel the auction?

What about if I have a bid, can I cancel that one?

TIA

Why is it a problem - I have bought and sold from people I know on ebay before.

Pancakeflipper · 13/05/2011 21:24

I think you can only cancel if there are no bids?

KatyMac · 13/05/2011 21:31

Cos she isn't on ebay.....she's a friend & saw the stuff when she visited

I have sold her the stuff without bids on & cancelled them on ebay

& I think she might bid on the ones with existing bids on them

You can cancel the sale on ebay - of course you can. I've done it before. You just remove it from sale.

(At the risk of boring everyone - DD is selling all her old toys & clothes to save up to go to summer school in 2012)

This will be her first sale Grin

Hmm just having a similar quandry, but it is another ebayer who has contacted me to offer an BIN price, but as the item has a bid on it I can't add the BIN option.

Isn't a bit dodgy to sell an item to another ebayer before the auction has finished? I have just emailed them to explain I can't add BIN.

I must confess it is a very tempting offer but not sure about how honest this is....

KatyMac · 13/05/2011 21:44

That's why I haven't cancelled the auctions with a bid on; it seemed unfair

I believe in karma.
There is still a week left this buyer can still bid. And there are quite a few watchers as well and if they bid then could get the same amount of money anyway.
Offer was 3 x the starting price. Only one bid but I don't want the current bidder to win unless it goes for a high price as I am convinced looking at her items for sell she just wants to buy it to sell it on...

So my friend won the auction, does she have to pay through Paypal or can she just give me the money?

If she has to pay through paypal can I take the postage money off?

It's all so complicated

Cancel the auction, take cash from your mate. Even if you let the auction run, she can pay you with cash, assuming she wins.

I'd cancel it - better to make a friend happy than a stranger.

KatyMac · 16/05/2011 09:41

She has won it - do I still cancel it?

OP posts:
Curiousmama · 16/05/2011 09:43

You just put payment received and take the cash. You'll still need to pay a fee though.

KatyMac · 16/05/2011 09:46

to paypal or to ebay?

ebay - it was a free weekend

OP posts:
Curiousmama · 16/05/2011 12:02

it's only free to list though you still pay fees?

KatyMac · 16/05/2011 12:08

So how do I pay them that? or is taken out of paypal?

Actually how do I get the money out of paypal? Blush

Let's start at the beginning - you can cancel a sale and say you have mutually agreed to cancel it and then sell it to her for cash.

Or you can let the sale complete and pay cash (and your ebay fees)

To get money out of paypal you need to register a bank account and transfer the funds out using paypal.com.

KatyMac · 16/05/2011 17:31

OK I did the bank account bit so that's OK

But I can't see the cancel it all bit

Okay - go into the ebay left hand column and look for resolution centre/file a claim. Then file a claim just stating the buyer and seller have agreed not to proceed. They will email her (so warn her) to confirm that this is the case then refund your sale percentage fees.

eBay struggle to make a business profit! too many people finding too many loopholes!! Please don't feel bad!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 20/05/2011 07:56

Well I didn't take that other watchers offer and they have bid. And the item is now nearly up to the price that he/she offered, but they are not the winning bidder. Still 11 hours to go!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 20/05/2011 19:14

The watcher who made the offer has purchased the item, for more than they originally offered!

I guess Karma really does work!

KatyMac · 21/05/2011 15:29

Oh good for you
