someone has bought one of my items but no longer wants it.what happens can we just both agree to not do the sale? who pays my fees? can I get them back? what about feedback?

I have bought something that is not as described ie it was listed as new and is clearly used. what happens next? do I have to pay to send it back?

thanks

For the first question, you can cancel the transaction via the eBay resolution centre. Ask the buyer to accept the request. When they do, you will be refunded the Final Value Fee. I don't think you will be refunded the listing fee though but you can relist for free. Alternatively, you can make a second chance offer to the next highest bidder and hope they accept. In my limited experience, they usually don't. So first option is your most likely bet.

For the second question, if the item does not conform to description, you should request a refund. The seller can ask you to send it back first but must refund you the postage it costs for you to send it back. If they don't, make a refund claim via paypal and cane the seller on the feedback.

Ok 1st one you can open a dispute after 4 days to make them pay or send a mutual cancellation request but unless they tick the yes button you wont get your fees back. You can only leave a positive feedback as a seller.

2nd one you will have to pay to send it back and may not get the return postage refunded. However do send it back recorded for safety.

no you will be refunded original postage but might not get the postage it costs you to return the item.

ilovecrisps · 22/04/2011 17:14

so or the second I will loose the money I paid to get it sent to me and loose the money I paid to send it back to them?
all for their 'mistake'

sorry x posts
how can I ensure I get my return postage back?

You might if the seller does not co-operate and you have to claim via paypal.

The implied threat to the seller is that you will leave bad feedback for them, if they don't refund the postage. If the seller has 100% feedback, they are likely to agree. But if they don't (in fact, I would be leery of a seller who would sell a used item as new), then you take the risk you lose the postage. Does it come to a lot?

LilQueenie · 22/04/2011 17:16

unfortunately there is no sure way to get return postage back. If you get a nice enough seller they will refund but are not obliged to.

ilovecrisps · 22/04/2011 17:22

yes postage is twice what I paid or item
I'm sure they wont refund Sad

Can I ask what sort of item it is?

If postage comes to such a lot in proportion, would it be right to say you got the item, albeit used, for a song.

ilovecrisps · 22/04/2011 17:27

toy
sort of it's a bit complicated
postage was woolly prior to buying but became more expensive

item wasn't that good a deal for the state it's in

the other thing you could do is leave appropriate feedback and relist yourself to claw back the money.
