Sorry this is so long!

Firstly, in the listing it says they're selling it for a friend and gives his mobile number and email address.

I won this item in the auction but didn't pay by payapl because it was for collection and they'd listed payment as paypal or cash on collection.

I sent a message on friday just after it ended asking when and where to collect, and asked if I could pay in cash.

By yesterday (monday) I'd had no reply so sent another message similar to the first.

I received a message today saying they talked to their friend and they "realised" the listing was a little incorrect. I actually had looked beforehand at the seller's feedback and saw they bought this item only a few weeks ago and read the listing, which was very very similar (like they'd copied and pasted), and could see what they'd paid, which was more than I bought it for. They didn't say in the message what it is that was missing/wrong in the listing.

They also said they had wanted more money for it but had "forgotten" to put a reserve on it. There was a buy it now price, but the starting price was relatively high, not like a 99p start, so I would assume they'd used that as a kind of reserve price.

They've basically said they won't sell it to me but I can call this man if I want to know the details and how much he wants for it.

I've looked at the resolution centre thing and can't work out what I can do as it was for collection, so it's not like I haven't received it, and I hadn't paid for it.

Presumably if I paid via paypal now, they'd just refund the money so don't know if it's worth doing that.

What can I do? Confused

I've had a simliar situation when I bought something for 99p and the seller said I could have it for £20 Shock
I emailed him and said he was in breach of Ebay rules and that he should seek advice himself from Ebay. He did this and got back to me to say he would have to let me have it 99p. I sent DP to collect it pay. The man was very insistent about giving DP the 1p change Grin

Good for you! Grin

I've replied saying they could have changed the listing up until 12 hours before (I'm sure that's right isn't it) and they should've made these decisions before listing it.

I've also said that I'm not willing to pay more for it, especially if there's something wrong with it that wasn't mentioned in the listing.

I'll see what they say and then I'll do what you did if they don't budge and tell them to contact eBay.

Thanks for your reply! Smile

You're welcome. Make sure that you tell them that they are breaking Ebay rules and if they are not forthcoming, do report them.
