i sold a jacket on ebay was a designer jacket and went for £30 i clearly state on my items that i do not cover for lost items by royal mail but always keep proof of posting and if they would prefer recorded delivery to select it
i would of course always help in any way for buyer to get refund through royal mail ect but anyways cutting my rant this jacket went missing in post quite frankle lady who bought it her feedback wasnt great to begin with so was it really lost i guess i will never know but needless to say ebay refunded her and im left now with no jacket and no money and can wait upto 30 days for royal mail to maybe give me a refund
i just think its unfair that sellers automaticaly lose out if somebody doesnt like rules stated in your listing surely they shouldnt bid on your item

a seller is responsible for getting the item to the buyer, not simply posting it - therefor sending by rec del is for the seller's protection not the buyers. Never offer rec del/extra compo etc as an option - the buyer will have no need to choose to pay extra as they are covered already. Like I said, rec del etc is for the seller's protection.
Stating that you are not responsible for lost items is a waste of time as a seller is always responsible.

As the contract is between you and royal mail and not between the buyer and royal mail then it is up to you to chase rm. It is also best to refund before the buyer opens a dispute and then you won't get a mark against your selling status.

so sorry this has happened to you, but at least you won't let it happen again for future listings. Good luck

Insurance is for your benefit not your buyers, it is your responsibility to get the item to the buyer, if you cannot prove delivery via online tracking PayPal always refund.

i no but i just think ebay should have better protection with sellers and trust me i was doing everything i could with seller, phoning royal mail checking sorting offices ect i gave her a refund after she opened the dispute as she never contacted me before opening ebay dispute so never really had much choice on that front but yes from now on i will only offer recorded delivery lesson learned
