Sold an item on ebay, I sold it as excellant as imo it was. I wasn't aware of any scratches etc.

I sent it via courier.. not boxed as I didn't have access to one BUT wrapped in bubble wrap in places and an outer bag.

The buyer has just emailed me to say its not in ex condition as it has some scratches.

The cost of the item was £23 delivered (courier £8) and I have offered £1 refund, increased it to £2.

The buyer wants £4 and has now logged a complaint with ebay and paypal saying the item is damaged. Its not damaged imo, and marked from what buyer says..

I have also suggested they return it at their cost and I will refund cost of item only..

what do I do now.? Where do I stand..?

advice appreciated..

ask for pictures of damage and if correct give refund. Either that refund upon reciept of the item.

ok, so if I get pictures showing it scratched (damaged according to the buyer) how do we agree if it was prior to leaving here on on route..?

Also, when you say give a refund, do you mean partial or full once item received back..?

Buyer is asking for a refund of £4.. defeats the object of selling it then via ebay iykwim.. given fee's etc.

Even if it got damaged in transit you are responsible.

If they win a PayPal dispute it will count against your seller performance, they will be asked to return trackable at their own expense and get a full refund of what they initially paid that includes postage costs.

If the item is damaged why should they be out of pocket the postage charges to send?

They shouldn't.

Buyers nearly always win PayPal disputes.

so what do you suggest I do FC..?

I have offered a partial refund which is not acceptable to the buyer, she has reported me to ebay and paypal and tbh I feel like im pushed into a corner.

She says she will send me photos.

She is now also claiming other things she has found wrong with the item... I can say hand on heart I checked the pram and it wasn't like she is describing.

Ebay rules say she can return the item to me for a full refund (fine) and that she should cover p&p back to me. I think thats fair as means we both have paid p&p then...

can I bump this please... what do I do now. I have pictures which im shocked at, I honestly don't feel the marks were there when I sent the item.

The buyer is also saying that she feels "I should be out of pocket for misleading this sale.."

The item would would out at me refunding the cost of the item plus p&p.. plus p&p i paid to send it to them and they want me to pay their p&p to return it to me...

would total around £40 compared to £23 (£31 inc p&p I will loose)

Surley its unfair for me to end up so much out of pocket esp on an item Im positive was not as they buyer is describing.Sad.

The buyer seems out to make sure I pay for this which saddens me. Esp as people are saying ebay usually go in the buyers favour.

I have suggested they return it otherwise I will await ebays resolve in a weeks time...

Do you think it may have damaged in transit? If yes, was it insured with the courier?

bemybebe · 03/03/2011 00:40

..."may have been damaged in transit?" [sorry]
