its got everything, some bits used but ex con and some bits unused/used once

also would the raincover get more money if i sold it separately to the pram as its unused bnib

how do i post it if someone wants me to, roughly how much would a courier cost? i don't have all the boxes, so should i just forget this option?

any other tips and advice?

What make is it?

You can book a courier quite cheaply, but you'd probably have to send it in two packages, so you're looking at maybe £20?

For the bits you don't have boxes for, either get a box/cardboard from a shop or wrap it in bubble wrap, thick bin bags and lots of masking tape.

You would be better to sell the rain cover with the travel system. Buyin a pram without a rain cover puts people off.

its mamas and papas.

thanks for the advice! didn't know bin bag wrapping would be ok!

What compromises of the travel system? You may have a buyer!Wink

FabbyChic · 22/02/2011 11:16

Offer collection only. If you have a box you can offer courier you can use interparcel.com they collect from your home, charge around £20 that should cover you.

If you offer collection ensure they pay cash on collection and not PayPal. Take good pictures.

FabbyChic · 22/02/2011 11:17

If you send in two packages you will not be covered for Seller Protection and could end up with a claim.

givemespace · 22/02/2011 13:41

thanks fabbychic esp for the info on seller protection

apples82 its the mamas and papas herbie in 'hot n bothered' red colour like this one

i have the carrycot (minimal use), pram frame, buggy bar, pram unit (ie to convert it into a pram, hardly used), foot muff, Primo Viaggio car seat in black/grey and Isofix base (both of which we had to purchase separately from the pram), car seat rain cover and for you i'll throw in the pram rain cover too (unused), am looking for £200 (original price was about £800 for everything) i can send you photos if you want? pm me your email address?

Parcel2Go are good for courier comparisons and booking. Sold my crib last week, courier £5.95 2-3 working days delivery.

givemespace · 22/02/2011 13:48

also am only selling cos i got given a new pram as a present when ds grew out of the car seat (that and the base are the main bits we used of the whole thing), didnt even really need the new one, but may as well keep it!

Don't offer collection only! You will get many more bids if you are willing to ship. If you have a car, offer free delivery in say, 10-15 mile radius.

List all features from the manufacturers website, including dimensions and weights. If the whole system fits easily in the back of your e.g. Ford Fiesta, say this! Obviously don't say "fits easily in the back of humungous Range Rover" Smile

Take at least 4 good pictures in various configurations.

Take the pictures outside, with good light, against a nice backdrop (trees, nice house). Not in the house with a flash, unless you have massive rooms or a wide angle lens it will be cramped and you will always end up with something distracting in shot.

Make sure you list in the right categories, spellcheck everything.

Most things that go cheaply on eBay do so because they are improperly listed and therefore don't attract bids.

ethelina · 22/02/2011 14:47

Yes givemespace, ebay. couriers go by size and approx weight, go on this site they will list all the different courier prices and services.

givemespace · 22/02/2011 15:44

thanks ethelina that's really useful

thanks hogsback too, i would never have thought of all that! makes so much sense. actually i was going to list it as located in london which is where my mum is and i go there at least once a week. so would be able to make it available for delivery/pick up within a couple of days of sale. i live in essex but i thought id get more buyers if i sell it from my mums place in london. do you think this is ok?

am definitely willing to deliver, that's a good idea to offer that too, thanks

givemespace: if you live in or near a big city, then collection only or delivery within a given radius can make sense if you don't want to do the courier thing. Collection only within London should still get you good prices.

It's people who list their stuff as collection only when they live in Caithness who really shouldn't be surprised when the winning bid on their £800 travel system is £2.50 :)

And do an advanced search and tick 'completed listings' to see what similar items went for (and to see the ones that didn't sell and why - crap pics, name spelt wrong, etc).

scotsgirl23 · 23/02/2011 09:06

As the car seat isn't a colour match to the pram it may be worth selling the pram, base and seat separately. A lot of people don't like buying second hand car seats so might be put off buying the entire system? I bought a previous pram on ebay but I wouldn't have bought a used seat, and wouldn't have paid extra for a package including one.

I'm currently selling an m&p pram, car seat and base and this looked like the best way. The bases seem to sell very well. Unfortunately there is a seller on ebay who sells ex-display Herbies which seems to keep the price down a bit.

(I have a Herbie too, although it's not the pram I'm selling)

givemespace · 23/02/2011 14:34

really scotsgirl, i would have thought people would want the whole thing together? but i don't know, its the first pram ive sold! its only not a colour match cos there isn't a herbie car seat...

hmm didn't know about the ebay seller, darn Angryhave been watching other herbies to see the sold price (didn't know you could search for completed listings, thanks for that lastyearsmodel)

maybe the above price is too much then. but i could probably get that if i sold the bits separately.

anyone sold at an nct sale??

OP posts:
scotsgirl23 · 23/02/2011 16:54

I think you would probably manage it as separates - the isofix bases seem to go for around £70 most of the time. The lack of colour match doesn't matter with the Herbie anyway as you never see the fabrics and the car seat together!

It's a totally personal thing - I'd buy a second hand pram no problem at all but there are a lot of warnings about the seats so I wouldn't risk the car seat.

You can always put a note on your listings saying you are also selling the seat?
