I know this is for Ebay, but does anyone sell on amazon?

Am thinking about doing so, is it any good?

I'm interested too. I have lots of books to shift.

I've sold quite a few books. They are easy to list but the fees are high. I find non fiction sell a lot better than fiction.

I've sold books on Amazon, but it was hardly worth it unless it was something rare. The charge to the buyer was £2.75 IIRC, so after Amazon took its cut you ended up with approximately £1.40 to use for postage. Depending on the size of the book, if you list a book for 1p, you might even be out of pocket to send it if it is thicker than the letter size format!

I still put books on Amazon because I think it is nice to get unwanted books to people who want that specific item, but I certain don't make much on it. As little as 11p per book some times, and that just about covers the brown paper to wrap it!

xpost with Bideyin, definitely agree nonfiction sells better. MrCock had a load of his buddhist philosophy books that he originally got from specialist bookshops as imports, so those got decent prices. Mass produced fiction paperbacks will not sell well, so unless you're happy to do it for next to no profit, give em to a charity shop!

Bideyin · 21/02/2011 10:30

It really depends on the type of book. I've listed baby books etc that were pristine and got what I paid for them. I've also listed a fair few non fiction (particularly political) books bought from charity shops and have made decent money (£8-£10).

Paperback fiction you might as well not bother imo.

I do it mainly to get the books out of the house.

I actually want to sell videos.

Have looked through and was amazed to see that a video I have is being sold for £49.00!

So I wondered if anyone actually did this for a sort of living.

I sold some unread kid's books and DVDs on Amazon about a year ago. I reckon I did better than I would have on eBay. I'm not sure if the rules have changed but it didn't cost anything to list so you could list them at a higher price then lower it a bit the next week, if necessary.

it depends what it is - but you can put your price in and see what you will come out with. We sell books and dvds mainly and aim to come out with minimum of £1 AFTER postage. We do quite well Smile

Professor I do know someone who does it for a living, that is their only job they make enough money from it, have registered it as a company and all that. They sell books mainly, then buy in the envelopes in bulk to make it cheap etc, and they get someone from the post office to come daily to the house to collect all the parcels.
