cannot believe they are asking a fiver for shower puffs!

penelopestitsdropped · 06/02/2011 16:32

cheeky fuckers!

mamadiva · 06/02/2011 16:39

This really does annoy me! There seem to be more and more greedy buggers out there who just want to make stupid amounts for things.

I got a netbook cooler from poundland and saw it on ebay for £9.99 Shock

I could maybe understand selling something for £2.50 if it was a limited stock item that would maybe cost a fiver elsewhere but when they start trebling+ it's just greedy!

FabbyChic · 06/02/2011 16:56

People pay what they are happy to pay, some people cannot get to the shop, it is not greed, it is enterprise.

If you had thought of it wouldn't you have done it?

lottiejenkins · 06/02/2011 17:00

Maybe but i wouldnt charge that much....... maybe £2 or £2.50!!!

But ultimately, it ruins Ebay. Ebay is or was about bargains. If it's taken over by a load of stupid chancers then it will put people off buying.

I have had some real crap off ebay in the last few months - am totally pissed off with it. I only sell now.

Totally agree with Lottie, there's no need to add on so much profit and to deliberately go into a shop for things to sell is a bit odd unless it's something of limited stock that would normally be of a higher cost but it's not.

It is people setting out to buy (some) shawdy goods to sell at rediculously inflated price. Probably more than they would cost elsewhere full price!

sixlostmonkeys · 07/02/2011 09:16

Have to admit I'm somewhat taken aback at some of the comments on this, but I guess it wouldn't do for everyone to be business minded.
The truth is though that deliberately going somewhere to buy stuff to sell on at a profit is how it works... for everything! This chap may be trying to sell stuff for 6x the price he paid, but the poundshop probably purchased the item for 5p per unit and so is selling them at 20x the price. This chap may well realise that he can not move his stock at such a mark-up and may be left with stock on his hands, go bust, or shift them all at cost. I would rather applaud a person for trying to make a living than mock him and call him names.

For those who are shocked at the mark-up on these cups please don't ever try and discover what the mark-up is on your glasses or mobile phones Grin

Ebay was actually started out as a place to buy and sell collectables, which is my field. I shall be going out today to buy a few things for less than £1 and will go on to sell them for between £50 - £100 (cheeky fecker that I am) :)

Curiousmama · 07/02/2011 09:18

Will many sell though? It works out very expensive with postage.

sixlostmonkeys · 07/02/2011 09:26

Looking through his listings he has sold 16 disney cups with straw (as an example) for 4.99 plus 1.99 p&p. This proves that there is a market for the items at that price. The seller is newish and probably just finding his feet - every business has to start somewhere.

Curiousmama · 07/02/2011 09:28

Oh wow coat on off to poundland well done him then Smile

pinkmagic1 · 07/02/2011 11:03

Absolutely nothing wrong with this. If he can sell them for this price good luck to him. It is called being enterprising.

Curiousmama · 07/02/2011 14:38

A lot of people use their paypal account to buy things so don't mind paying more. Mind you there's a good profit with those cups!

snice · 07/02/2011 14:41

A distant relative of mine makes a good bit of money by buying branded stuff in TKMaxx and selling it on ebay

Honeydragon · 07/02/2011 14:44

Also poundland buy huge amounts of limited crap stock. I but the Disney snack traps frmp there, everywhere else they average £4.99 - £7.99 for exactly the same item.

Also at christmas they had Seapals etc in so I bought a load for Xmas, again they are normally about £8.

Boohooyou · 13/02/2011 09:30

I agree with sixlostmonkeys don't see the problem at all. You can see the item, see the price and if you want one buy it, if you don't then don't!

Before I was married, A friend and I were bored one weekend and did not have a lot of money to do anything.

We set each other a challenge. To go and spend £20 each on stuff in cheap shops, and to see who could make the most money in two weeks with the items on ebay, with items sold as we had bought them. We both did elaborate decsriptions, took very staged photos.

Normal sort of tat, computer stuff, books, kitchen stuff.

He made £33 PROFIT
I made £49, and this was calculated after sales fees, wrapping were deducted.......

I can think of worse ways to waste your time...
