I sold a dehumidifier on Sunday and it was collected immediately and paid for in cash, all going great.
Until today when they buyer has called me up and said it is not working in his garage.

I used this recently and it was working fine so no idea why there should be any problem now.

Has anyone had a problem like this. Ebay have said to try and resolve it with him but if that does not work he might open up a case against me and they will investigate both sides.

Has anyone any experience of this from a sellers point of view? Will I be forced to refund him?
Feel very frustrated over this as I know it was working so worried he has tampered with it.

Tell him to return it and you can then issue a refund. No point in doing anything else, unless you think he is lying.

Cant he reset it and set it off again ?
Is it full ?

I would have thought using a dehumidifier in a garage was a pointless exercise tbh.

He is saying it is not collecting water so have emailed him that ebac think it is too cold in a garage to work efficiently. As it was working fine for me I really don't see why I should give a refund and loose out on the high fees I paid for him wasting my time.

Carameli,
I had a problem that I sold a handbag to a lady, it was listed as a midi bag (fromm choices ebay give you) or something, I listed the exact measurements and she emailed to say it was 2cms smaller than I had said, therefore unsuitable, it pissed me off immensely as she clearly just decided she didn't like it.
I had to refund her and pay her postage, very frustrating but unfortunately the rules of ebay seem to protect buyers much more than sellers now.
Thats probably not what you want to hear but unless you had it working in front of you both before he took it away, I'm afraid Ebay will rule against you Angry

have just heard from the seller who has also spoken to the manufacturer and it seems he was using it incorrectly and has now said in his email that it seems to be working fine so hoping this is the end of this. I will not feel at ease until he has left feedback though. Keeping fingers crossed.

Oh good, good luck Smile

You will not have to refund your buyer as they paid cash on collection.

eBay will not entertain claims whereby an item has been paid for by cash. eBay only deal in PayPal disputes as does PayPal.

Any other payment method is not covered for disputes.

that is interesting to know Fabbychic.

Well all ended well, the buyer has left feedback and email and thanked me for helping resolve the problem. He had just got confused with the controls. So relieved now.
