Bought an expensive item off Ebay (£147!). When it arrived it wasn't working.
Eventually got seller to agree to me returning the item and they agreed wasn't working on arrival to them.

It cost me £14 to return and they are unwilling to refund this cost because they claim it was working before sending! And they say they didn't have to accept a return because they aren't a business (I disagree as item was not as described)

Do i have any rights to claim back the £14? I even tried asking for half of the return cost!
I think it is very unfair that it has cost me £14 for nothing. They claim it is unfair they be out of pocket it any further!

No you have no rights with regards the return costs. Most sellers will refund return costs on faulty items but are not obligated to.

Leave your dissatisfaction in a resulting neg feedback.

PayPal would have made them accept a return but you still wouldn't recover your return costs.

I agree, it is indeed a bummer. I had to send an XBox back recently and the seller paid for the return courier but then again he's a business. £14 is a lot to lose when you don't even end up with an item.

I thought that might be the case. It is very unfair when the item is faulty. Will be leaving neg feedback with pleasure! Grin
Tryharder It was a PS3. Have won another one now and having to keep fingers crossed it arrives before Christmas (Worried because i forgot to check feedback before bidding and paying and they only have 3 feedback!)

You bought from a new seller which mean there money will be held for 21 days or until you leave positive feedback.

They may decide then not to send until the money clears, yet within that time you would have opened a non receipt dispute.

Hope they send, but don't be surprised if they don't .

I would contact the seller again, explain situation again and tell them if they don't reimburse your postage you will leave negative feedback. In the rare situation that I have had an unhappy buyer I always reimbursed their full costs plus purchase price and p&p, just not worth the hassle not to do that IMO.

dikkertjedap I have left neg feedback now, they weren't happy lol!
Oh and the 2nd PS3 i bought didn't work either so another £14 return cost coming up. Sad NOT buying another one off Ebay! Luckily Ds1 has been very good about it.
