I need some advice please.

I live in Sweden and have an eBay account which I use occasionally. I have 100% positive feedback. There is an item I want to bid on but because of the Christmas post and the fact I am coming back to England in 2 weeks it would make alot of sense to have the item sent to my dads house in England

So, is the seller allowed to send the item to an address which is different to my eBay/paypal account? I would hate to think it was some sort of scam. This item (oidz) is sold out everywhere and it's the only thing that ds1 has asked for for Christmas!

I wouldn't be surprised if many sellers will refuse to do that. It's not safe for a seller to do that although I think it is alowed. A seller would be crazy to do so however.

Thank you, I guessed that might be the answer but I wasn't sure. Bollocks.

Could you set up a new account with the address at your dads house. 100% positive feedback isnt as important when you are buying rather than selling.

Can I have more than one account? Is it ok to link the same payPal account to that address too? Sorry about the questions but I know nothing!

I dont know, sorry.

Could you get your dad to set up an account?

MrsMills · 06/12/2010 17:08

I think I'll ask a friend in England to get it for mr, it's on buy it now so should be straight forward enough.

Thanks for your advice anyway.

You can add more addresses to your paypal account, then when you buy something, you select the address you wan that item shipped to. The seller is still sending to the address paypal says. HTH.

There's no harm in asking the seller- I have done this for someone previously when their story sounded genuine, and it wasn't a high-risk item.

Do you know any mners near your father who could bid for you at all? Don't think I'm likely to be near him but you never know...

Shouldn't be a problem if you explain and ask seller in advance, my mum lives abroad and always gets loads of eBay purchases sent to me (and various friends)

Towatessa · 13/12/2010 08:50

You could offer to pay via direct bank transfer - they will know that the transaction can't be reversed then (although it does work both ways.....if the item isn't as listed you wouldn't be able to claim your money back quite as easily)

Thanks for all your advice, a friend kindly bought them for me. But it's good to know for future purchases, so I shall add a uk address to my account now.

It only cost £2.99 which was the annoying thing!
