Buyer wants me to send parcel to Shipping company...WWYD?

Hi,
Brief outline. DP has sold 2 fishing reels totalling £170 and weighing 2kg.
We didn't want international bidders because of the cost and hastle of posting abroad but didn't stipulate in the listing and ended up with a buyer from Bulgaria winning the items. Our fault, I know!

Anyway I have priced up sending them with insurance and it's going to cost £55.

Have told this to buyer who does not want to pay this but wants me to send them to a shipping company in London. The thing is once the parcel is signed for at the shipping company I have no control over what happens to it then. If the parcel isn't delivered to the buyer then I will have to refund the buyer.

It sounds ok to me, actually -- U treat the London co. as his preferred shipping address and he does the rest. Get him to agree (save this msg & print it out) to absolve U of all responsibility of getting it any further.

a message of agreement is useless in preventing a claim for item not received - the seller will still have to refund in full unless she can provide tracking info that indicates it reached the address on paypal.

Personally i would tell them you either send it to their paypal address or you mutally cancel the transaction.

set your preferences for future listings to prevent buyers from countries you don't post to from bidding.

So can buyers never vary the address to which they want something sent without the seller being at risk if the item doesn't actually ever arrive to buyer?

I'm surprised that Ebay is that inflexible.

What if the buyer doesn't pay using Paypal, would seller still be liable in Ebay dispute if the item got to the London shipping co. okay but then not onto the buyer in Bulgaria?

DH sold some stuff on Ebay and the buyer wanted it shipped to Poland, UK couriers costs were too pricey so the buyer arranged collection and shipping from his end.
Cheaper , the onus was on him to chase the delivery company and the funds were transferred as per a normal Ebay transaction.

Maybe this would be viable for your cusotmer too?

regarding paypal, a buyer can add a gift address to their account and if the seller sends to this address shown then they are covered under seller protection.
A buyer who pays with anything other than paypal doesn't have the same amount of buyer protection, although I'm not too sure just how much protection they do have since the most recent changes.

Refund your buyer and ask them to use the delivery address of the shipping company as their delivery address.

That way you only charge for UK shipping and you get seller protection as you shipped to the address on the PayPal transaction page.

They have to add the address to their eBay account not their PayPal account and select on checkout.

Monkeys you cannot add a gift address in a dif country to where your PP account is registered, so the buyer has to add the address to their eBay account.

Buyers have protection now no matter where they buy from providing they do not send money as a personal payment, if you pay for goods you get full protection against INR and SNAD.

Seller protection will apply if the buyer in this case adds the address to his eBay account and selects upon checkout, so far then as the seller is concerned the buyer might as well be in the UK.
