have you gone onto "my ebay" & checked if its there too???

we've had a lot of different types of fake e-bay phishing scam e=mails lately Hmm & I'm sure we had one like that too, so double check on your e-bay that it is actually genuine.

if not, hopefully you didn't sign into e-bay via the e-mail link, but if you did, you need to act quickly, change your password, contact them etc.

hope I'm wrong good luck

OhCobblers · 19/11/2010 19:05

thanks rockinhippy
it was from paypal with no link

logged on separately to my paypal a/c and indeed that payment is "on hold" while they review it??? Confused

view the dispute on paypa and they will give you more information why they want refund. it's so annoying when they do that without contacting first

OhCobblers · 19/11/2010 19:12

paypal info is telling me to go to Ebay Resolution Centre but there's nothing there that explains it - am at a loss.
its just giving me the options if i was the "Buyer" and telling me what to do if i have a problem?

i have no idea if its because the item has not arrived - was posted 2nd class on Mon and i emailed them to tell them that - very hot on letting the buyer know whats going on, as a result have "top marks" for despatch time; or if they think its not "as described" which it definitely was ?????

sorry, also paypal info telling me that "buyer has opened a dispute" but not saying why? am really pissed off .....

OP posts:

there should be a bit on the paypal where the buyer has written why they have opened the dispute, you can reply to them and say you have posted it and they need to wait!

they are very inpatient by sounds of it

OhCobblers · 19/11/2010 19:21

i'm looking everywhere for that info but can't see it anywhere?

OP posts:
Tidey · 19/11/2010 19:22

In the Resolution Centre, it should tell you if someone has opened a case.

OhCobblers · 19/11/2010 19:23

tidey do you mean in the ebay resolutation centre? am currently in there and no "cases" open?? argh!!

OP posts:

They've opened a Paypal dispute but there's nothing on eBay about it? Hmmm. Not come across that before. They could well be taking the piss then, regretting what they've spent and trying to get their money back and keep the item? I was under the impression that if it's about an eBay item, they should have gone through them first, then gone to Paypal if it's not sorted out.

southeastastra · 19/11/2010 19:31

on the homepage next to overview, it should say resolution centre, then view open cases and the details should be there somewhere

i can't see from mine as don't have any open disputes atm

OhCobblers · 19/11/2010 19:31

exactly!

they've only opened a dispute through paypal first plus i've received no further email from paypal to say what further info they might need from me (since i received the first email around lunchtime).

it was less than a fiver so don't understand why they can't wait a few days but there's been hardly any activity on their a/c for a while according to their feedback so perhaps a regretted purchase.

It would not show in your My eBay only in your resolution centre.

PayPal will not ask you for anything until the claim is escalated to a dispute then you will have to provide tracking information, if you do not have any, you lose they get a refund.

OhCobblers · 19/11/2010 19:52

so if its because the item has not arrived, i'd then have to claim through royal mail after 14 days?

i've got proof of postage but thats it. another item posted same day has arrived and feedback already received. its not even been a week?

i think they're trying to pull a fast one Sad i guess it was going to happen at some point ...............

Maybe they have not received it. YOu can't just assume they have it, albeit some do it, it is rare.

ShittyBangBang · 20/11/2010 09:54

Go into the transaction for the refund and they have to write why they are opening the dispute.

Should always send recorded...the extra 70 odd pence is so worth it for exactly this reason.

OhCobblers · 20/11/2010 11:03

in the paypal bit for the dispute its now saying "unauthorised payment details" but i don't know if thats the reason for the dispute or standard info?

SBB i know what you mean but i've always tried to keep P&P costs as low as i can to not put people off, but i agree in future i'll send recorded. just seems silly to pay the extra when item was only a few quid.

what gets my goat the most is their complete lack of comms prior to this dispute. i sent the item the first working day after payment received and packaged well as always.

nelix2000 · 22/11/2010 11:55

maybe the buyer used someone elses paypal? Mine has been hacked before, and I have canceled transactions made against it...whatever it was, I hope you get it sorted :o)

OhCobblers · 22/11/2010 14:03

thanks nelix.
you'd just think if that was the case then send an email saying so, wouldn't you?!

i'm wondering if i can put in a claim through Royal Mail for the item as i'm clearly not going to get it back.

even if someone has hacked into another paypal a/c how do they get the item posted to their address??

have had an email from paypal requesting tracking info so of course they'll get their reversal and i'll be out of pocket as it went normal mail. Angry

LittleAmy · 23/11/2010 09:47

How much was the item value?

Also have you emailed (or even better - phoned) Paypal?

OhCobblers · 23/11/2010 13:46

£4.75!
haven't contacted paypal though - have you had this experience?
thanks
