DH has been eyeing up yet more bikes and bike gadgets and found an auction for a bike near home including something else he's been after(I don't have a cluse about bike stuff!!) Anyway the bike was up for BIN of £360 or best offer. Dh as cheeky as ever offers £200. Suprisingly the bloke says no!!

Next thing we know he's emailed saying he'll take £270 if we can collect. We don't answer the email, we don't really get the chance before he emails again saying he can go down to £250. Again we don't answer. I saw the email but it's not me wanting it so I was leaving it till dh got home.

So another couple of hours go by and he emails again saying he will take £200 for just the bike, not the extra thing.

Now I'm thinking why is this man so keen to keep dropping the price when we don't answer his offer of the higher price. IYSWIM!

He has also now dropped the BIN price to £280
and the other thing is no longer on the listing.

I don't think dh should buy it. I wondered what the people of mn think?

Maybe he is just wanting a quick sale?

hmmmm possibly. I just think it's too good to be true. DH wants to buy but I don't think he should!!

Maybe he is skint! As you be paying cash on collection the too good to be true scenario makes no sense at all. Not like you getting it delivered. Take the offer, and if when viewing it is not as described just walk away.

Can he ask the seller if he can go and view it before doing a BIN?

classydiva · 16/11/2010 17:17

Yep course!

classydiva · 16/11/2010 17:17

He can ask to view and take 200 with him and pay for it there and then if the seller agrees. Saves the seller 10%

Not necc bad. DH bought a bike last year, that was only 3 months old and it was MEGA chepa in the end. He went in to where ot was bought and the place confirmed the bloke had bought it from them and paid cash. the bike was fine - but the lad was desperate for money, even though he lost out on it!
