have got 3 new cookery books that are listed 3rd time round but with not watchers so not looking great for a sale!

They are the River Cafe 1 and 2 and a Terence Conran one - all in perfect cond, though the RC ones have my name written in them, but that wouldn't be a problem if they were for the buyer and not as a present.

was wondering if you've had success selling books on Ebay and if not have you sold them elsewhere?

TIA

I usually sell books through Amazon, people more likely to go there than ebay. Only worth it if they are going to fetch enough money to give you a return above the Amazon fee and the fixed postage rate though (hardbacks can be expensive to post).

thanks for your reply.
are you able to tell me top off your head what the Amazon fee and fixed postage is?
thanks

Looking at ebay completed listings for these books indicates there is no call for them.
There are lots already listed on Amazon for a few quid, most of which will need to be used to pay the extra p&p (£2.75 limit on p&p) so even if they sell on amazon after fees you will be left with pence.
Not worth the effort I'm afraid - sorry for the bad news.

Amazon are good, but mainly for cheaper books, unless the book goes for an absolute fortune.

Fixed postage fee is £2.75 iirc, so if postage is more than that, you'll have to take it off your profit.

Check how many other books are listed (search by ISBN to make sure you get the right edition) and see what they're listed for to give you an idea of whether it's going to be worth it.

My guess would be probably not, as there will be loads of people who were given these kinds of books as presents and want to off-load them.

You could try putting the on gumtree, otherwise donate to the next school christmas fair.

hmm,

I listed 2 x paperbacks and 1 hardback book recently and they all sold. I made a healthy £5.00 for the hardback but the 2 paperbacks were a cripplingly depressing 50p!

Have you looked at the books you've got on a completed listing search?

I've had some luck with Greenmetropolis particularly if the books are in excellent condition and not one of the latest paperbacks.

It pays a flat rate of £3 for each book sold but you can ask for additional postage if the book is big or a hardback.

Only problem is I tend to build up a stash of money in my account then spend it on a load more books

thanks everyone.
going to give Greenmetropolis a go!
