Buyer not happy with dress - what should I do?

I recently sold a quite expensive designer dress to an international buyer.
She has contacted me to say that the dress smells of body odour and perfume and has some minor fraying.

It was cleaned after it was last worn so I can't see how it smells and has been hanging in my wardrobe ever since where I suppose it may have picked up a hint of perfume from my other clothes. I really wouldn't mind this and have often received items that have a slight scent of perfume or washing powder. I don't smoke or have pets and am really fastidious about my clothes.

As for the fraying, I didn't notice this at all and checked it quite carefully before I packaged the dress. The dress was listed as used and I included a lot of photos. I didn't really give any details about the condition and the buyer did not ask any questions.

I sell quite frequently on ebay and have nearly 600 100% positive feedback and have never had any problems before. I've contacted her offering a refund or offering to pay for dry cleaning but I'm not sure about the fraying. I've asked her to send me some pictures so I can see for myself but I'm not sure what to do next. I'm reluctant to offer to pay for repairs and think it's unreasonable to expect a used item not to show some minor signs of wear.

What would you do?! Any advice much appreciated...

I think you have done right so far by asking to see the fraying. If she sends you pics that show fraying then I'd simply tell her to return it for a refund.

Thanks - I'll do that. I haven't heard from her yet but hopefully it can be resolved amicably.
She doesn't sound very happy, though - I think I might have to prepare myself for my first negative!

I agree with six.

I had a neg from a buyer who wasn't happy with the item they received. I gave them a full refund incl both P&Ps straight away and they still left a neg.

I have now gone back to 100% FB though. I think with you having so many positives people will assume it was a picky buyer/genuine mistake.
