Gah, don't know if I've got the nerve for this. How many watchers is "good"?

Hi All

Thanks for the help on my previous thread. Bit the bullet this weekend and listed a load of maternity clothes and a change bag on a 7 day listing.

As of now, I have only 1 watcher for most of the things, 0 for some and 6 for the bag. Am I going to have to let some stuff go for 99p or is it still early days. What would you consider "good"?

Don't know if I've got the nerve for this. I'm a control freak Smile

PS Have some more stuff to list (it takes ages doesn't it!). Any opinions on advantage of listing tonight for 5 days (to finish at the weekend) vs 7 days (to get more time for people to view)?

TIA Smile

It's so hard to know how many watchers is good. I've had items with 40+ watchers and it ended up with very few bids and I've had items with 2 or 3 watchers that ended in a bidding war!

I think some people watch a similar item to what they have listed (I do it to be nosey to see how much others get for the same thing!).

I always used to make sure my listings ended on a Sunday evening but in the last year or so I have had them ending on weeknights aswell and haven't noticed much difference. IMO, as long as the auction is running over a weekend then you should be fine.

From my own experience, I have missed out on some items because I've been away for the weekend and not got home in time to bid in the final minutes. Whereas, I am always home during the week.

Thanks for replying.

I have been watching items for this reason too. Now feel slightly guilty as I realise that people like me are watching so avidly.

Have 15 watchers for the bag now. A couple of 99p items have 1 or 0 watchers. Do I just let these ride and suck up the 99p "loss" do you reckon. Or can/should I pull those items and try again another time?

if you really don't want to risk them going for 99p I would pull them. It's always best to start at the minimum you want for an item. You can risk a 99p start if it's an item that 'always' sells well and ''always' gets lots of bids, but some items, may be worth a few quid, but only to the odd buyer (and if that odd buyer doesn't happen to be browsing this week then......)
Have a look at completed listings for the items you are selling to get an idea of bidding trends.
