Why are people bidding on my book when there are much cheaper ones listed?

I currently have a book listed (nothing special, widely available book)- there are loads of other identical ones listed by Power Sellers at a Buy It Now price with free postage but people are still bidding on mine.

To give you an idea you could get it for a BIN incl P&P for £2.75, yet my auction is currently at over £3 plus £2.20 P&P

Confused

The only difference is I have included a photo of the book in my listing and the others generally haven't. Do people really place that much emphasis on a photo?

yes they do!
And sometimes you buy from a power seller/trader and they don't actually have the item in stock and it can take ages to get it, if at all.

I would rather buy from a 'real' person than a business for the reason BuzzingNoise mentions - I recently wanted a book and I tried loads of places, including ebay BIN to find I had pre-ordered it - I didn't want the pre order, I wanted the already released one! It was my fault and the seller was fantastic, refunded no problems, but if I'd been buying a second hand one, I'd have known it was there iyswim.
OTOH your example does seem a bit daft!

Really?

I nearly didn't bother listing it as there were so many others listed. Glad I did now Smile

it hasn't been my experience TBH. Unless I list as the books are fairly new, I don't get a sale. (Although might try again now!) Mind telling us which book it was?
