I don't really know what to do-I don't use Ebay much, but bid for a Brownie uniform for dd.The description said used and the seller had 100% positive feedback,so felt quite confident.

When it arrived today, the sash and hoodie were fine, but the trousers were bobbly and had stains on,the hem on the top was down with loose threads all over and everything was covered in dog hair.

I was really disappointed,I'd be ashamed to sell stuff in such bad condition, and although I only paid £16,I feel let down by the fact that none of this was mentioned in the description.I have put it all in the wash to see if I can get the marks out,and can have a go at mending the hem,but am unsure what to say to the seller. If I ask for a refund,I'll have to send it back recorded at more expense to me.Can anyone give me any advice on what is best to do? I paid by Paypal.
Thankyou.

If it is not as described then the seller would have to pay the postage not you.

Might be a tad late now you have washed it.

I would have contacted the seller imediately to see what she wanted to do.

You should take pics of the items, then contact the seller saying what you're not happy with. Bobbling is normal for 2nd hand stuff, though tbh should be mentioned. Staining and dropped hem is defo a no-no and she should have made more of an effort to get rid of dog hairs.
Check her 100% f/b. Is this as a buyer or as a seller?
Don't be scared to say something. I would recommend asking for a partial refund via Paypal without having to return the item(s) as basically if the stains don't come out, they are unsellable. If she isn't reasonable, just give her neg f/b

Thankyou both.I have got the uniform out of the wash and the stains are still there,so will still be able to photograph them if need be.I have emailed the seller [who had pos feedback as a buyer and seller] and am waiting to see what happens next.Is it worth me raising a dispute with Paypal before I get a response from the seller do you think?

I have a gut feeling that he is going to ignore my emails-looking at the photo of the uniform,he cleverly angled the trousers over the dodgy hems,so they wouldn't be seen.Angry

No, don't open a dispute first as you will just piss her off.

Let her know why you are unhappy and see if you can sort it out.

Save the big guns for if you can't.

If you start a dispute, you will get your money back minus postage.

Moan about the trousers, from 16 quid (excluding postage?) I'd expect a refund of 4 quid at least. I have been scrounging for Brownie uniform lately, too so am very aware of prices.

Bit of an update.I never heard a thing from the seller and have filed a dispute. So far Ebay haven't heard from him either.Am cross has I've had to buy new uniform for dd,as it is her promise ceremony tonight and she was desperate to wear a uniform.

ragged,Brownie stuff isn't cheap,is it?Shock

The thing is, what was the opening price? I listed some uniform, was totally clear about the faults, started the bidding at 99p, and to my amazement the final bid was £20.

That's ebay for you. I bought a Brownie jacket and when it arrived it looked as if it had been worn by the whole pack of Brownies, plus had a used paper handkerchief in the pocket. I took it on the chin, some you win, some you lose, but didn't leave any feedback at all.

bacon · 12/10/2010 22:34

State the faults but do it really apologetic as not to wind up the seller. Stating that is you'd known the actual condition you would of bid a max of £10. So you'll be happy to accept a £x refund.

Too many sellers are not stating the actual condition which really winds me up. Saying "in used condition" or "sold as seen" cant be justified because you cant view the product in the light of day.

I always detail mine - bobbling, fluffing, fading, stains, seams, age etc.

Its a horrible situation and not fair that you still paid a good wedge of money on this. Failure to come to some agreement you will leave negative feedback.

i have a heap of outgrown uniform here. size 22-224. dd2 now needs 26/28 as is so tall.

its not good enough to sell, but good enough to pass on iyswim. if anyone wants some, i will go through it all and see whats there. off the top off my head, at least 2 t-shirts, a pair of trousers, a cap, a body warmer, and maybe a sweatshirt. its all [ahem] well used, as was second hand for dd1, but has been passed to dd2 as well.
