E Bay experts - is it possible to revise an item to add international postage option?

Would any expert E Bay-ers be able to help an E Bay virgin?

Is it possible to revise an item once it's listed to show international postage when it was originally listed for UK postage only?

I've got buyers from Spain and USA interested in 2 items but after going into the "revise items" options for each, the postage option doesn't seem to be one that can be changed...help! Grin

I think you can as long as you don't already have any bids.

Ah right, maybe that's why I can't change it as there are bids on each of the items.

Perhaps I should have left the international option open....oh well, one to remember for next time.

Thanks for getting back to me vbusymum1. Smile

I only know this because I had the same situation and the buyer kindly told me that Ebay have changed this recently so that unless you specify an international opetion at the start (or before any bids) then overseas buyers aren't able to bid.

I'm not enough of an expert to know how the best way round this but I believe there is a way to change your settings to allow overseas bids.

Hi, i recently started selling and initially i just had my items as UK only as it was the default option and i ended up getting loads of messages if i'd send to various countries and asking how much postage would cost. What i did was reply to them telling them yes and what the cost would be and then, because i'd only specified UK, i would ask them to let them know if they wanted to bid and you can then add their username to your 'buyer exemption list' which then allows them to bid pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/buyer-requirements.html#exemption.

As pp has said you can amend the postage cost if there's been no bids and then you don't need to worry about exempting the buyer.

If that particular buyer then wins the item in order to get the correct postage cost paid to you, you can change the postage cost on the invoice that you can email to them.

I hope this helps. Since my first week of selling, i've included EU countries as it's really no hassle to post there and have also done some international sales. I've been selling baby and toddler clothes and most of my buyers have been from Europe so it's well worth it especially as they seem very willing to pay lots of money for items!!!

Sorry, just read that through and it's a bit waffly. I hope it makes sense!!

Hi Missymoomum, sorry not to have checked in on this until today - thanks for your reply which wasn't at all waffly! Smile

I will have a go at adding buyers to my buyer exemption list as you suggest as they are both really keen.

Thanks again and good luck with your E Bay - ing! I follow someone's blog who is a regular E Bay seller. She shops at boot fairs and charity shops for bargains and then sells them on. She says she makes enough to fund their family holiday each year Envy.

Wouldn't that be great? Must admit though, I'm not sure how I would deal with the early Sunday mornings each and every weekend, esp now Autumn definitely seems to be here!

You can add to your item description even when you have bids - it adds it as an extra bit. You could always put a note to potential overseas bidders there for now.
